Another surgeon who's known the speaker (and his dedication to medical education) for years comes to his defense, gets 13,000 views and a resultant 15 likes. Social media is so gross. We all assume the worst, simplify things into buckets of good and evil, make snap judgments without a shred of research, then attack people without any concern for consequences. There's a huge ripple effect (in an unpredictable manner), sometimes it blows over, sometimes people's lives are ruined, but it's irrelevant to the mob, as our attention span is short and we've already moved on to the next offending incident. Whether or not the GR speaker was truly hurtful, the way we all decide about his worth and then demand a consequence is extremely dangerous.
