Once upon a time Indian Govt used to compare our nation with developing nations. Now our govt is comparing our nation with Pakistan ( which is a Dallal country as per our govt ) , Afghanistan, Srilanka and other 3rd world countries. This is how we will become #VikasitBharat ?
Nirmala Sitharaman Office@nsitharamanoffc

What is happening in Pakistan? 200% hike on high octane fuel, 20% hike on petrol and diesel happened overnight. Petrol now is sold at 321 PKR a litre. Smart lockdowns announced in Sindh province, so that their fuel can be conserved. Restricting movement, gatherings and public events. Schools are shut for two weeks. Government offices have moved to four day working week. Private offices told to shift 50% staff to work from home. We're not doing any of it. Still some leaders are spreading rumours that there will be lockdown. This rumour mongering should not happen. It's being done to spread fear. Markets and shopping centres are ordered to be closed by 9.30 PM in Pakistan. These are all the media reports. All universities shut down and shifted to online learning in Bangladesh as there's no electricity. Five hour rotational power cuts are happening. Implemented for domestic consumers in the city of Dhaka. Fuel station across Dhaka closed due to shortage of octane and diesel. So, the situation across the world is not good. We're managing in a way that our citizens don't face any difficulty. There's a contrast in price I want to say. In India, nothing has changed. Whereas in Pakistan, plus 20% to plus 200% price depending on petrol, diesel, high octane etc. Bangladesh has rationed stations closed, supply cut 10 to 15%. Excise duty action, we have cut Rs. 10 per litre. Neither Pakistan nor Bangladesh have responded. So, India among these neighbourhood countries is maintaining a level of stability. We're following Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji's guidance on the same. - Smt @nsitharaman in Rajya Sabha

@mukund @JesseCohenInv It's a good question to ask.. why are the private fund managers (VC and PE) investing like retards at such lofty valuations! Seems like they believe retail investors will eat all the crap thrown at them during IPO

No, madam. High income tax rates in itself isn't suppression. But, - Squeezing the same 2% population of direct taxes without making any effort to expand the base is suppression. - Not providing any Social security to those who gift half their income to you as tax, is not suppression but pure exploitation. If "जले पर नमक छिड़कना" had a face, it'd sure look like yours, Madam FM. @nsitharaman
Latha@drlathac

How can middleclass get suppressed by giving their hard earned money to politicians for self-welfare (their pockets and doles to votebank) and babus to get richer?? It is not suppression of middleclass, it is empowerment of them. Wow @nsitharaman Ji. Wow!!

@akkiman That's the problem we face in India -- weak opposition who cannot mount a challenge to the govt on various matters. India will continue sliding down till we have a strong opposition. Maybe after our lives

For those who wasn't around in 2013: we actually used to have a media that grilled the Govt and a Govt that faced press conferences. Today, the Rupee hits 94.81 and $13B vanishes in a month, yet the silence is deafening.

Prediction: China will win the AI race because it will dominate the demand side. Large swathes of the US economy will resist AI deployment - governments, education, health care, law, ports and railways, etc. High risk Democrats win next two elections and tank US AI development. Plus China has more electricity generation. I don’t see how Elon saves America from shooting itself in the foot.

@mukund @Sunnyypt1 The tipping culture in the USA has got outta hand! Just pay the people properly and avoid the tipping crap like it's done in most parts of the world. Simple things like taking care of your people needs to be learned by most companies

@TVMohandasPai With this mentality, isn't it clear that India will remain a developing country with corruption instead of a country leading with capability and vision (like China)?

Pune does have a distinct character & whatever remains of it deserves to be protected & preserved. Our tekdis & rivers, for instance. Next time you are here, take a walk on the trails of Vetal Tekdi you just might consider moving to Pune. I say might, because our traffic, garbage & flex hoardings are equally persuasive… in the opposite direction.

@lakshmishaks @TVMohandasPai Does this show how poor our policies and capabilities have been in competing globally via exports that bring in dollars? Should we be proud that we sent our best talents abroad and now be grateful that they're sending dollars back into India?

India receives $138B annual remittances vs lower FDI inflows, with diaspora income at $700B globally. Remittances nearly doubled in 10 years and finance ~50% of merchandise trade deficit. ~35M diaspora send ~$13,000 every 3 seconds, with >70% expecting stable or higher flows.

Some more idiotic comments. See oil cos accounts. For nearly 2 years they absorbed increase in oil prices. Only this year till Feb they made good profits , recovered part of losses of earlier years. Now again making losses. Nobody rippled off anybody , stable product prices have led to low inflation
Sumanth Raman@sumanthraman

@Siddarth_18 We have been ripped off for the last 5 years when oil prices were at 60-75 dollars. That is why there is no increase now. And wait till the State elections are over. You will see.

Ashok avare this is very very wrong. How can you demand tickets free for a match? You are not our Master but public rep. @AmitShah ji this attitude is upsetting citizens who were told @BJP4India is a principle based party @amitmalviya @BSYBJP @BSBommai @narendramodi @drashwathcn @Tejasvi_Surya @PCMohanMP
Sandeep Parswanath@sarpame

Just yesterday @BJP4Karnataka and @INCKarnataka MLA s demanded free IPL pass and within 24 hrs the president of KSCA is summoned for solution . Why is this speed not seen if it's common kannadigas problem . See what our opposition leader says also! This is what our Karnataka people have voted !

A Congress MLA seeking free IPL tickets is inappropriate. Nevertheless, IPL tickets in Bengaluru are expensive and availability remains limited. We must ensure fair pricing and transparent allocation so genuine fans can access the game. After all, cricket belongs to people.
