It is an honor to serve as the VP of Legislative Affairs for the Central FL Navy League. Its mission is to advocate for a strong maritime defense and build a community of those who serve. Grateful to @SecDef for giving the keynote at SOF Week Tampa.

A standing ovation —in Europe!— for @SecRubio. Deserved. Very deserved. It is a wonderful speech, summoning our 250th birthday as the spine on which it is built. Listen to all 18 minutes and send to your families and friends. Every American can celebrate this.

On January 13th, following Supreme Court arguments in West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox, we held a gala to thank our many friends, allies, and warriors for women’s sports. At the center of the event was this display, representing nearly 900 women’s athletic medals that—according to a UN report—have been taken by men. It was moving to see the scale of this loss depicted in such a tangible way. As anyone who's ever been an athlete knows, a medal or trophy is so much more than the item itself. It represents a hard-won personal goal, achieved through years of sacrifice: training, sweat, tears, pain, early mornings, and late nights. For an athlete, that medal is both a visible symbol of how far she's come and a motivation to push herself toward the next goal—because hard work pays off. So when it’s taken by a boy or man—someone with innate physical advantages —it’s not just another sporting loss. It’s a slap in the face. It’s a mockery of her dedication, goals, and dreams, often from the very institutions and mentors she’s always trusted. For each of those 900 medals, there was a girl who heard that message: “Your ambition doesn’t count. Boys can push toward excellence, but girls must step aside.” And for each of those 900 girls, there were countless others pushed down the rankings, bumped from the podium, cut from the team. But as our guests took photos with this display that night—many of them young female athletes who have felt that very sting—their mood wasn’t somber. It was jubilant. Because the sheer number of those medals didn’t just symbolize loss. It showed them they weren’t alone. And because earlier that day—both inside the Court and outside on the street—they’d seen the tide turning. After countless losses, women and girls look poised for the win.

In a rare move, the SEC dismissed with prejudice an active enforcement action after defendants invoked Loper Bright to challenge the agency’s authority to issue its mutual fund liquidity rule under the Investment Company Act. The dismissal has raised questions about agency power, judicial deference, and the future of rulemaking. Join us today at 12:00 pm. for a discussion unpacking what this means for post Loper Bright enforcement. Ft. Jan Folena, Margaret Little, and @MichaelPiwowar Watch live: fedsoc.org/events/loper-b…

Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. ask whether states can protect women’s sports by basing participation on biological sex, consistent with Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause. The cases address challenges to Idaho and West Virginia laws keeping males from competing on women’s teams. With oral argument held today, the Supreme Court’s review places the future of sex-based sports classifications squarely before the Court. Join the Federalist Society TODAY for a Courthouse Steps discussion analyzing the arguments, the justices’ questions, and what these cases may mean for Title IX and equal protection going forward.
