Gartner says even as per-token prices drop 90% total enterprise AI costs go UP because agents consume exponentially more tokens per task.. the more powerful and useful the AI becomes the more expensive it is to run at the scale that makes it transformative.. every CEO for two years said the same thing on every earnings call.. AI reduces headcount and cuts costs.. the stock went up every time.. workers got fired.. stock went up.. AI strategy announced.. stock went up.. $725 billion in AI infrastructure spending this year across Big Tech.. and the first companies to actually deploy these tools at real scale are already pulling back because the invoice arrived before the productivity gain was large enough to cover it.. the gap between what the earnings call said and what the invoices say.. is the most important number in markets right now.. and nobody on Wall Street has priced it in yet.

This is outrageous. A small town in Michigan did everything right to stop OpenAI & Oracle from building a $16 billion data center in their town. The people of Saline Township flooded their council meeting, put up signs all over town, and convinced their officials to reject it. The officials voted against the data center 4-1, and that should have been the end. But two days later the developers sued, and the town couldn’t afford to fight back in court. We are not a free nation when billion-dollar corporations can take over the land of our communities and towns. We are a captive nation ruled by corporations and billionaires.

Explain it to me like I'm 5: Cuba has significant natural wealth -- sugar, tobacco, nickel. American corporations extracted that wealth while ordinary Cubans lived in poverty. Cubans revolute and kick the U.S. out. The U.S. places a 67-year embargo on them, forcing them into deeper poverty.Then tightens it with a specific embargo on oil. Now threatens military action if Cuba doesn't let us back in "to help the Cuban people." If we want to help them, why don't we start by lifting the embargo?

bell hooks said that White people will meet a Black person who completely challenges every racial stereotype that they have, but rather than giving up the stereotypes, they create a special category for that person and say, things like “Well, you’re not like other Black people”, instead of saying, “My ideas of Black people were too narrow”. This is called “subtyping” and it leads to the survival of negative stereotypes because the new category individual who’s supposedly “not like the others” is mentally isolated from the group. What this shows is that bigotry is all about protecting an existing hierarchy and it doesn’t matter much whether a person is exposed to other people or not. Which is why meeting intelligent, kind, accomplished, or complex Black people does not dismantle prejudice if someone is emotionally invested in keeping the stereotype intact. Exposure to facts and figures doesn’t change the situation either. Someone can know the statistics on crime, education, poverty, or discrimination and still keep racial stereotypes because the stereotype preserves a sense of superiority and avoids confronting historical responsibility. This is part of why bell hooks further argued that racism is emotional and ideological more than just purely ignorant, which is then why facts by themselves usually do not overcome a worldview that a person is motivated to preserve.
