The truth about building in crypto 🧵 10 years ago 99% of crypto activity was people creating, holding, and trading tokens Today 99% of crypto activity is people creating, holding, and trading tokens In 10 years 99% of crypto activity will be people creating, holding, and trading tokens It's okay to be honest with ourselves that DeSo, InfoFi, GameFi, read write own, and everything else has failed People make up all sorts of compelling narratives but it is indisputable that the underlying activity is the same as 10 years ago If you are a builder I highly recommend focusing on wallets, launchpads, exchanges, or infrastructure that supports wallets, launchpads, and exchanges (like bridges, onramps, etc.) The Solana, Base, and Hyperliquid ecosystems have all realized this and are trippling down on becoming the global decentralized exchange for everything There is a massive opportunity to help build out the infrastructure to bring all assets on-chain as well as the app layer that will connect 8 billion people to the world of token trading It has never been a more exciting time to build in crypto but don't make the mistake of building something that nobody wants!

The real truth about the @binance listing process 🧵 Over the past 8 years Binance has mass extracted billions of dollars via listing fees When @cz_binance and @heyibinance claim that Binance doesn't charge listing fees it is an explicit lie They get away with this because earlier this year Binance switched to using terms like "HODLer program" and "marketing budget" But make no mistake Binance 100% does charge you if you want to be listed which usually involves up to ~10% of the supply of your token, millions in cash, plus huge purchases of BNB The end result of this extortion scheme is that Binance will list whichever projects send them the most tokens which means that scammy, insider controlled, low cap memes like $TST, $NEIRO, $ACT, and $CAT get listed while large organic communities like $HYPE and $DOG get ignored Everybody in crypto complains about rugs and scams but nobody wants to hold the largest institution in crypto accountable for perpetuating them If a crypto exchange actually cared about its users they would solely evaluate projects based on merit and carefully curate the best tokens possible for their users to buy From Bitcoin's earliest days Satoshi made it very clear that banks were the enemy and Binance is nothing more than a very large, corrupt bank If you want to help bring an end to the practice of listing fees which have caused significant structural damage to the crypto market and have in turn harmed millions of real people the answer is simple Use DEXs DEXs are open by nature and don't require permission in order to be listed In 2018 @haydenzadams and the @Uniswap team gave us the tools to take back control when they implemented the first x*y=k AMM Every since then we have been marching toward a DEX/CEX flippening (hopefully this cycle) where more volume will occur on-chain than off-chain but we have to fight hard for it What @jessepollak and @base are doing to integrate DEXs into the main @coinbase app is incredible What @cjhtech is building with @trylimitless is extremely innovative and could change how we think about buying and selling crypto What @toly and @weremeow are doing on @solana to bring liquidity on-chain is badass What @chameleon_jeff and @HyperliquidX are doing to make a DEX feel just as sleek and fast as a CEX needs to be celebrated If you would like to end CEX listing fees and show support for on-chain DEX builders repost and reply so that more people pay attention to this matter!

Some argue against Bitcoin Runes and Ordinals by saying, “People don’t want to spend their Bitcoin, they want to spend Solana, Ethereum, etc.” But this logic does not hold up. If someone wants to buy Ordinals or Runes, they can just convert their SOL or ETH to BTC and make the purchase. The currency is not the deciding factor, it is about the type of funds people are using. Everyone separates their money into savings and spending buckets. Savings = untouchable, long-term stack. Spending = funds you actively use for trades, mints, or purchases. Whether those spending funds are in SOL, ETH, or BTC does not matter. Converting them to BTC does not magically turn them into “savings” that you refuse to touch. If it is in your spending bucket, you will spend it. If it is in your savings bucket, you will not, regardless of the currency. The “people will not spend Bitcoin” idea is true in the context of long-term savings, but irrelevant when it comes to active, speculative, or fun purchases like Runes and Ordinals.
