However, that number could be more due to Disney taking a SuperBowl Ad and marketing campaign with restaurants

@javierdeux @Luiz_Fernando_J It hasn’t made its budget back this weekend. That’s not how it works. Studios do not get 100% of the profits. Theaters take around a 50% cut of the box office. You also have to account for marketing and other expenses which is usually around 50% of the budget.

@DdEmerging @GlobalBoxOffice Will have to see come the second weekend if it doesn’t have a huge drop off, because it’s going to have some competition with The Backrooms next weekend and pre sales for the Backrooms has been insane.

Elemental ended with 496.4 mil and had to rely on streaming and other revenue sources to fill the gap. It could’ve been worse, but was a disappointment for Disney.

Early showings overseas are not looking good and reviews are mixed. If it has a big drop second weekend, it’s not going to be good.

If you account for the marketing, film needs anywhere between 160-200 mil if you are basing it on an 80 mil budget. This is going to be another flop for WB and Mando this week and The Backrooms next week ain’t helping.

@ikerandhailee @Luiz_Fernando_J That’s very possible. Horror has been making a huge comeback and Obsession has been a huge hit and even toppled MK2 this past weekend. The Backrooms is also generating a ton of buzz. I would not be surprised at all if it took the #1 spot next week

Now, the ball is with #TheMandalorianAndGrogu, kicking off rollout at Global #BoxOffice on WED. After mixed reviews, industry is cautious, with projections seeing a 65M-75M 3-day weekend in the US & a 75M-85M 5-day opening overseas, for a 140M-160M Global opening. If that becomes the case, it would be similar to #Solo’s 153M Global opening back in 2018.

Word of mouth and interest is going to have to carry the film otherwise we’re going to see a big drop come the second weekend. Interest in Star Wars has not been good. Also this film is extremely front loaded and has lost more than half its audience going into the second weekend and the international numbers are terrible. It also lost out to new release Obsession dropping to 4th. Not good!
