@PstafarianPrice @10minmanicure @helplessdelta Design influences behavior. There is 0 instinct to driving on a road with a car. Therefore, you can mend behavior more freely with good design.
All entirely possible. Expensive? Sometimes, but at what cost?
English

@PstafarianPrice @10minmanicure @helplessdelta Wrong again! Well-designed streets account for that, making it near physically impossible to speed (by having winding roads) and kill people (by having strong barriers or at least strong poles)

@ragehaver @MayorGimenez @FrancisSuarez Huge underclass! Never forgot about that Uber driver who spent 10 minutes explaining hey grind:
• Uber + Lyft apps open
• Taking UberEATS deliveries
• Constantly refreshing Amazon's gig deliveries page like if it were a swiping game
All this and she barely made ends meet

You save $9,286/year in Miami by taking public transit.
Minus the cost of a monthly Miami-Dade Transit pass, and that's $8,000/year savings!
$8,000!!

As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend millions of Americans will be hitting the roads. #Publictransit can help keep more money in your pocket when you hit the road via bus or train and live with one less car.

@PstafarianPrice @10minmanicure @helplessdelta You got it mixed up: BAD infrastructure designed to encourage DANGEROUS driving.
Ives Estates, FL 🇺🇸 English

@10minmanicure @VirginTrainsMIA @helplessdelta SFL = South Florida? What makes it particularly dangerous? Bad infrastructure and bad drivers?

@PstafarianPrice @VirginTrainsMIA @helplessdelta I wish I still had the courage to face the dangers of riding in SFL.
English

@PstafarianPrice @helplessdelta Must be nice to work at a job that pays more than $2 above minimum wage!
Sadly, this is Miami. Everybody's broke and everything's expensive. Everyone, except for the elites (some of whom live in a municipality exclusively for millionaires)

@VirginTrainsMIA @helplessdelta What ridiculously affordable transportation!
My traditional bike is about $2k, my ebike about $4k. But I'm a software engineer who can afford it, and I don't own a car.
Avg in US is ~$9k on car-related-costs every YEAR. It's what frugal me uses to justify my bike spending.
English

@OdelGauri People don't understand that cost of living is not just rent. In fact, living in South Beach may be cheaper and better on the whole than South Dade
No surprise considering many don't understand that college tuition =/= cost of attendance
You need paper, pencil, and a calculator
Ives Estates, FL 🇺🇸 English

@OdelGauri Maybe for those who live in the west outskirts of Kendall, living closer (say in Downtown) with the Metromover, could put the net cost savings at least to $0.
Better quality of life though. No needing to see therapists & getting massages for having a horrible car commute
Ives Estates, FL 🇺🇸 English

@PstafarianPrice @helplessdelta What a ridiculously expensive bike!
Still better than $450/mo subprime car loans that'll leave you on the hook for 30 years, drown you in debt, and then go after your whole family to squeeze their money out
English

@helplessdelta @VirginTrainsMIA I calculated it out. Paying $50/month with their 7.49% rate will cost you a total of $1,300 on a $1,200 loan.
Credit cards are, what, 20% interest? That will cost you $1,550 overall. So about $250 in savings. Think of all the bike accessories you could get for that!

Would you let your child bike to school on this @FDOT_Secretary #DeathLane?

@OdelGauri @MADiaz81 @cosmicsoul477 @theDRoweshow @GetAroundSafely @John_Gamble20 Lux is a code-word for Brightline, at least internally and in the technical side.

@FrigginDweeb Also that. They serve multiple purposes, that way you can advertise it as the good-feeling purpose (to block highway noise) instead of the bad (to racially divide neighborhoods and cities with a massive physical 160-feet-wide concrete barrier)
