@ajlamesa It’s about the safety of the kids walking to school and to bus stops. There are 6 ft tall mounds of snow at corners, so kids would have to walk in roads to get there. Half of the sidewalks aren’t clear either.

The extended DMV school closures are appalling. A modest snowstorm hit over a week ago, and everything else in these communities has been open for days. Governments must deliver basic public services to citizens and stop absolving themselves of responsibility with excuses about "safety."

I have a question Is this just AI? Seriously where are these cameras mounted? Is there a third camera mounted rider or a drone? @LPDonovan I kept up with it on Sunday, and now I have a 1.5 inch ice sheet that won’t break up. Neighbors that waited until Monday were able to just chisel it into chunks and toss. It was heavier, but they’re clear. It would have been a perfect approach if this was a normal storm.

6:50 p.m. — Precipitation finally about to taper The end of the sleet and freezing rain is mercifully in sight. Radar from 6:45pm (shown below) and short-term models both suggest the precipitation should quickly taper from west to east across the region between 7 and 8 p.m. Some patchy light sleet or freezing rain remains possible, but with little to no additional accumulation. While there have been some times of freezing rain, especially east of D.C. and I-95, sleet has seemed to remain the dominant form of precipitation for much of the region. That has, fortunately, helped limit power outages across the area. In the areas from D.C. and I-95 to the east that have seen the most freezing rain, temperatures are warm enough — mainly mid- to upper 20s — that salt should be effective to melt the glaze. It’s colder west of D.C. and I-95, in the mid-teens to near 20. Salt isn’t as effective at those colder temperatures, but the precipitation there has been mostly sleet, which should be easier to clear off even without salt. @anotherarizonan @minakimes This is a pretty simple answer. $2B+ of funding to US farmers just got cut - this food was going to developing nations. 1) USAID supports US Farms. 2) Developing nations help their people, and there is a less likelihood for anarchy, violence and terorism.

@minakimes It is not American taxpayers responsibilities to feed people in other countries. The funding can come from somewhere else.
