The central party and big netas in BJP may have adopted a mature, lenient approach and sidestepped on the rebellion by daughters of their netas but I'm told that there is a huge storm in @BJP4Odisha

Given the heated CJP ‘cockroach’ agitation all over, Jindal Global Law University changed plans to have Chief Justice Surya Kant deliver the annual convocation address on July 26. Abhishek Manu Singhvi saved the day!

The celebration of youth power exhilarated everyone rightfully . But as I mull over the Jantar Mantar protests I am also haunted by some of the young men I met who live in villages, small towns, urban slums, with dreams in their heart and uncertainty about the future. Some dreamt of jobs in the police and railways. Ironically 19 year old Sahil Lochab nearly blind in one eye because he was hit by a pellet gun used in the crackdown by police and RAF dreamt of being in the police too. I think of the railway job aspirant I met , a daily wagers son, who said to me - “If I don’t get a job, is death the only option?”. While the student protests were founded in hope; for many in lower income groups , they were also founded from anxiety about economic survival. In many ways this was also a protest movement for jobs. In 2024, 1.87 crore candidates applied for 64, 197 vacancies in the railways . Just an illustrative figure of what the priority for India has to be in the coming years for central and state governments and the private sector. The Nandan Nilekani led task force on exam reform announcement is very welcome. I hope the next focus for everyone is jobs - because celebrations must not forget those who may well be stepping back into the same lives of economic hardship. 💜🇮🇳

When Jinnah looked to Delhi | In June 1947, he explored convening Pakistan’s Constituent Assembly in Delhi, but the proposal was opposed by Nehru, Patel, and Rajendra Prasad. ✍️@SobhanaNair thehindu.com/books/when-jin…

A leader who built his party cadre from the scrath into a national force. A parliamentarian who lived with probity & sanctity. An advocate of India's rich cultural heritage. An organiser who led a mass movement for what millions regarded as centuries old civilizational injustice.

To all the trollers: Stop confusing religion with spirituality. Religion seeks followers. Spirituality seeks transformation. Religion is an institution that defines identity, authority, and control. Spirituality is a deeply personal awakening that expresses itself through every thought, word, and action. Politics infused with religion divides. Politics guided by spirituality unites and aspires to the ideal of the philosopher-king: one who serves with wisdom, compassion, restraint, and truth. Sri Aurobindo said, "When it is said that India shall rise, it is the Sanatana Dharma that shall rise. India is rising for the sake of the Sanatana Dharma." Sanatana Dharma is the bedrock of Indian civilisation. It was never meant to be a religion in the narrow, institutional sense, nor can any political party monopolise it. It is a way of being, a path of inner evolution, and a lived pursuit of Truth.

Okay enough with the pearl clutching over sloganeering at the protests. Most of these kids act up for the camera and social media clout. If your kid doesn’t good for you. Also, Topji has said a lot of nasty things in the past himself. Remember 50 crore ki girlfriend? I’m saying this as someone who votes for Topji.

@Whyshalleee I am choosing to believe: They always knew they were horrible. They deliberately wanted to be horrible. They melted and apologized because the way this gentleman showed restrain, his dignity in the face of provocation proved more powerful than their hostility.

In his latest #Instagram reel, PM #Modi looked very unloaded. I think that night he was pretty clear in his mind that the very next day he would ask his education minister to put in his papers. Bringing the ad nauseum student protest to an end. #JantarMantar #NEET

@ashoupadhyay Since resignation was not accepted, so it will not fall into that "first" category.

Who was the first Union Cabinet Minister to resign in independent India? Not Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Not B.R. Ambedkar. It was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. After Mahatma Gandhi's assassination on January 30, 1948, Patel offered to resign as Home Minister, accepting moral responsibility for the security failure. As public calls for his resignation grew, JP & other Socialist leaders also demanded a new Home Minister. Patel even wrote to Jawaharlal Nehru that the public demand was "obviously justified." Nehru, however, persuaded him to stay, and the resignation was never accepted.
