@Tan14764166 @belladonnafeli The marketing will show all these tropes like it's an Ao3 tag with literally 0 hints to the plot, if it even has any. Publishers saw that releasing fanfiction is very profitable and decided to turn every romance/romantasy into one, while not even understanding how fanfics works

@Voidsspace @belladonnafeli yeah that's lowk true. a lot of modern romance books read like fanfiction because we have pre-established character tropes or archetypes. people pick and read books to experience the grumpy x sunshine trope for example, rather than multi faceted characters that fall in love

people with think this is political but they actually used her because she’s 4 and a half feet tall and jacked and it allowed them to do cool forced perspective practical effects like this

Matt Damon revealed his stunt double in ‘The Odyssey’ was a woman. “My double was a woman, a female stunt performer who had the greatest arms I’ve ever seen. When she came into the catering tent, it was the first time I met her. I went up and hugged her and thanked her for all the work she put in.”

i knew these guys werent serious when a few months ago someone gave some very general writing advice and everyone was asking why they should improve on their writing😭
felicity 📖@belladonnafeli

I think one of the main issues is that people who say fanfiction is literature and want it to be taken seriously also get mad when people criticize the writing of it. You cannot ask for it to be respected and then be mad when it’s treated the same.

It is often claimed that medieval people did not love their children. This is completely false. worksinprogress.co/issue/did-medi… Some facts about childhood in medieval England: - Parents made vast sacrifices for their children and expected little in return. Supporting a child took about 15 percent of average income, and most children left home at just the age that they might have become net economic assets; - Medieval families were quite small: the average child had one living sibling, like the average child in England today; - The Church thought that foetuses were ensouled at quickening, not conception, so early-term abortion was not treated as homicide. This remained the case until the nineteenth century; - The English government repeatedly banned football to focus boys on archery practice (it was ignored); - There is extensive evidence that medieval parents adored their children and were devastated when they died, which they often did. High infant mortality was just as horrible for medieval people as it would be for us. My review of Nicholas Orme's wonderful book, Medieval Children.

It is pretty devastating to grasp that medieval people loved their children just as much as we do, when 40% of them died before they were ten years old. The past is more horrifying than we can imagine.

If you ask them why they hate women so much it always boils down to the lack of perceived access they have to women. To them the worst crime women can commit is not granting men (especially men of "inferior" socioeconomic standing) easy access to their bodies.
