@VulcanB2558

so, if you take someone and shove them down a jet engine, is it minced beef or ground beef?

@Hush_Kit The brits had a VTOL aircraft working in the 1950s called the SC.1. It was used from 57 to 71, and used to test the puffer jets found in the harrier

@wind_sonn @Hush_Kit The RAF typhoon accidents did not result in ejections, nor were the crashes fatal. Read the sources you are using.......

After more than 23 years of RAF service, the Typhoon has suffered no fatal crashes, no pilot ejections and no aircraft losses in flight - an exceptional safety record for a frontline supersonic fighter.

@AtomicCoyote61 Fun fact! The Brits also could use APHE M61 for the QF 75mm Gun, but gaijin fucked the brits over (as per usual) and didn't give it to them

Thesis: the British using solid shot in their tanks in WW2 wasn't a mistake or based on their doctrine, but actually a colossal successful effort to troll War Thunder players 80 years later.

@TomcatJunkie @AFmuseum So 150 Mk.XIIs went to the RCAF, and 250 went to the RAF. Many of the Mk.XIIs built in Canada were shipped without an engine or with a Merlin 28 (merlin designations are a whole other thing). Upon arrival to UK, these were fitted with Merlin XXs and designated the Mk.IIBs

@TomcatJunkie @AFmuseum There were 400 Hurricane Mk.XIIs put on order by the Canadian government, 100 for the Netherlands and 300 for China. The Netherlands order was decreased to 72, and obviously the Chinese went American. The Canadians then offered 328 Mk.XIIs to the USSR, which again, didn't happen-

@nibb54321 @Diseasel22 @CcibChris Nah that is a gannet AEW.3, note the contra-rotating props, the giant radar bulge under the aircraft, and the lack of Pods (I don't know what they are on the Alizé), and the Z-Fold wings

@messything42135 @CcibChris Yes, 51% of Scimitars were lost, but in numbers thats 39 out of 76 (it was a very small production run) compared to the hundreds of starfighters lost

@CcibChris It's recorded that 35% of all F-104 Starfighters were lost in accidents. The loss rate of the Supermarine Scimitar was higher?

Supermarine Scimitar. Hot ship but required much servicing and good pilots. More than half lost in accidents

@SPRA24 @VoicesofWW2 Technically yes, the UK and France bought liberators under the Anglo-French Purchasing board. The board was to basically make it easy to coordinate deals between France, England and the US. However, when France fell, most of the orders of French B24s went to the UK

@VoicesofWW2 Lend Lease began in 1941. In 1940 I would have thought that the UK bought it as it had the money.

@DaOfficialVigil Chieftain mk.8 LRF, Thermals and APFSDS all in '79. Modifications? Sheesh, I thought about giving it the MTU MB 873 Ka-501 (Leo 2 engine) Role: Armour interdiction (using LRF +APFSDS or other rounds, destory any enemy armour relatively close to the base) 1/2

@DaOfficialVigil Not so realistic option? THE LOCKHEED CL1201 (60s!) Modification? An AN/APS-20 radar ir a Skymaster/ARGUS 2000 in the nose for AEW capacity, and having its own weapons (AIM-7, rotatable turrets, etc.) Role: Air superiority. Ground the enemy air force before CASing them down

@DaOfficialVigil Aircraft? Hoo boy Realistic option with the weak logistics: L39 albatross with a modern (so 80s) avionics and weapons upgrade, as well as a increased wing strength to carry more ground ordinance. Role: Ground attack (CAS , infrastructure destruction etc.)

@joeblillib4090 I WENT THERE FOR THE MOST RECENT ENGINE RUN! IT WAS BRILLIANT! It did rain just after the engine run, but it cleared up before the lighting engine run (they swapped them round) still, great place to go, highly recommend it, staff are good and the exhibitions are beautiful 1/2
