@Andrewwood17 @Gabriel64869839 Britain sent a single army officer to help defend Greenland. If anything it just emphasizes how threadbare our army is. Additional dogs sleighs would have served as a bigger deterrent.

@Gabriel64869839 They sent a very clear signal to Trump And yes, part of the signal was that seizing Greenland won't be as easy as you think it is Anything that deters Trump from just taking Greenland is a GOOD thing Trump seizing Greenland would be worse then anything announced today

It is wrong, but it was also spectacularly stupid to send troops in what was, despite the retroactive attempt now to claim otherwise, the macho response to Trump. For the UK in particular it was a premature and dumb decision. All to lose and absolutely nothing to be gained.
Ben Obese-Jecty MP@BenObeseJecty

This threat by President Trump to impose tariffs on the UK and seven NATO partners because we’ve deployed a single Army Officer to Greenland alongside our allies is wrong. This constant pressure from the US towards Denmark, and now its military allies, is a huge concern. President Trump risks weakening the very foundations of NATO. Thule Air Base used to have c.10,000 US personnel, now (as Pituffik Space Base) it has c.150. If the US assess Greenland to be strategically important to their flank, we should query why they have drawn down personnel by 98%? As an MP with two USAFE bases in his constituency, one of which hosts US European Command’s Joint Intelligence Center, alongside NATO’s, I question the wisdom of the US in adopting such an aggressive stance towards us as allies when we facilitate its eyes and ears across Europe and Africa as well as significant US air assets, vital to US operations in both continents. Keir Starmer must defend Britain’s interests, something he has consistently failed at regarding Diego Garcia and the Chinese super-embassy. This is a critical test for the Prime Minister.

@UKDefJournal This program is another unfunded uk pipe dream. £1bn wouldn't even scratch the surface for a UK equivalent of iron dome. It's just a headline figure pulled out of someone's backside that they have been told will meet a funding target.

@CallahanAutoCo @whosnewburner You need to get past the first 10 mins. It actually turns into more of a dark comedy, when the strong powerful woman of colour reveals her true colours that she's a self centred narcissist that doesn't give a sh!t about anyone but herself and her entitled ego.

@nicholadrummond They knew the cost of CTA Ammo would be multiples that of the 30, 40 and 50mm Ammo. I'm not sure why that did not kill the project off 20 years ago, outside of MIC looking a big payday.

@soldiersystems @Gabriel64869839 Interesting, I thought that they where nothing more than a firearm distributor a few years ago. Looks like they are gearing up to manufacture firearms under licence or at least complete the final assembly for the British army.

@CR940 @JonHawkes275 The issue wasn't the requirements, it was writing them after Ajax had been selected. Absolute clown show, on a billion dollar project.

Ajax debate in HoC yesterday, lots to digest but this line, oof "I was absolutely shocked that the team building Ajax said that no two hulls had ever left the factory that were the same. They were all slightly different, and that was a flaw in the whole project"

@JonHawkes275 @hattra2 It's bizarre, with CAD and CNC machining I would expect the tolerances to the millimeter. How the hulls end up 10cm or more out of tolerance is beyond me, they never should have been accepted into the factory in Whales.

@hattra2 Known yes, for many years. But always as longstanding rumour, not as witnessed statements from factory floor, stated in Parliament on Hansard record by an MP. Huge difference in legitimacy.

@GarethJennings3 It looked brilliant, but what a retarded decision to replace every part with the exception of the bare fuselage that was not built to a common standard. If your going to replace 99.99% of an aircraft, just design a new one and build it properly.

@UKDefJournal He didn't deny it. He called it 'speculation', which means it was bang on the money. So the mod has 3 months to find out how to cut £28bn from its spending planes on what is already threadbare defence.

My personal view is we should sell them all to Ukraine (if it'll have them) and lease whatever the latest model Leo 2 we can get our hands on from KNDS, if they'll let us. Assuming we want to maintain a credible @RoyalArmdCorps and @BritishArmy. What say you @nicholadrummond? 😳

@BearJFK @nicholadrummond @509298 @RoyalArmdCorps @BritishArmy It would be more of a final assembly plus any UK specific upgrades like armour. One of the offers made to the government if they selected L2 was they would be brought into the global supply chain so get a cut of future exports but they went C3 instead with zero export hopes.

@JonHawkes275 Is the box shape on the side of the cannon an externally mounted machine gun. Every other turret I have seen the machine gun tends to be internal probably so it can be reloaded under armour. I'm curious why Lynx has gone down this route.

@harryr33 @UKDefJournal Money and reduced size of the army. I'm not sure if the government would be willing to fund the upgrade even if it meant putting them into reserve. There will be no ammunition available for the old C2 so they will likely be scrapped.

@Chris7804813581 @nicholadrummond Depends how Sir Kier wants to fix his £28bn black hole. I think a tracked IFV could be out the window again and the army will double down on Boxer and Patria 6x6.

@nicholadrummond If Ajax fails then the Ajax IFV is out the window. What’s your guess for the replacement? For me tracked boxer is the logical solution, continue with wheeled procurement until fully developed then move the wheeled variants into 1X as the tracked variant comes into 3X.

@walkerpj1 @CarmineSabia She looked incredibly naïve to me. From the statements made by her partner that she 'made her come' and told her to 'drive baby drive' shows someone in a manipulative relationship. Why was she the one encourage to put herself in harms way while the partner stood on the sidewalk

I think she got in way over her head...from all reports this activism was a recent thing. She appears to be having fun...then it all went horribly wrong! I think the fact she died from her gunshot wound was more of a fluke not that the officer was that good a shot based on the seconds this incident actually took.

I believe any of us who have decent sized platforms have an obligation to squash misinformation. There is a misinformation on Renee Good that needs to be addressed. Yes, I have fact check this information as a journalist using actual sources that are not tough to find even for a non-journalist. The criminal records being shown on her and her wife are both false. The photo of her mocking the death of Charlie Kirk is not real. She was not a domestic terrorist or a bad person just someone who made a tragic mistake. We do not need character assassination of someone whose family is already suffering. I’m a MAGA conservative. There is no benefit for me to squash this misinformation other than my obligation to do it.
