2/2 As such, if I wanna hit 3 state parks tomorrow -spending no more than 90 minutes at each spot- it's gonna cost me $75 -$25 for each park's ONE TIME day use pass. Simply because I'm an out-of-state visitor. Not cool, Utah. Not cool. At all.

1/2 So lemme get this straight. Utah refuses to allow non-Utahns to purchase the annual state park day-use pass ($65 for seniors; good at most -if not all- of the 46 state parks).

Prepping one of my 40m verticals prior to phasing. These poles are circa 9.5m. As not to fold back I wound 8 turns of wire on a 36mm former at 4.5m from base. Close enough to fine tune later 👌

In my last several updates, I've been talking about a spicy, sinful backdoor cold front for Friday. A backdoor front is one that retrogrades (moves east to west) associated with a trough of low pressure that will dig south into the central and northern plains with arctic origins. Depending on which model you look at, the boundary of this colder air will attempt to push west across the plains, but doesn't quite make it to the front range and I-25 corridor. For now, the NAM suite of models has the front stalling along a line from Scottsbluff to Limon to Lamar and Springfield. East of this line? Light snow and much colder temperatures with easterly winds of 5-15mph, and wind chills in the teens. West of this line? Temperatures in the 40s. Some places could even be close to 50 degrees. BUT If the front moves just 60-75 miles further west, then we are talking about a much different forecast for Friday. This is what I also mean when I say the "drama is in the details" and "your weather apps are shit" because context is important. I'll keep you posted k thanks bye.

10M contest plan: Friday night was S&P segment, Saturday was CW segment, and Sunday was SSB segment. I wanted to split evenly between modes, but activity was much better on CW. That's OK. Not bad for a sloping dipole at 40' down to about 25'.

Well, it took nearly seven years, but this morning I finally achieved SOTA "Super Sloth" with 10,000 chaser points working K9MP/P on Mount Lemmon, Arizona. Thanks to Chris @K7TABravo for getting me into this niche portion of the hobby! @summitsontheair @SOTA
