This #WorldPolioDay, I have a simple message: we’ve come too far to turn back now. Thanks to years of partnership and persistence, millions of children are protected from polio. But the job isn’t done. This is not the time to quit — it’s time to recommit. Investing in #polio eradication means investing in a healthier, safer future for every child. Together, we can finish the job and make polio history. #EndPolio l #UnitedtoEndPolio l @WHO

Ministers of health and their delegations meet at the #EMRC72 for a healthier future for more than 750 million people across the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
We believe in the right of #HealthForAll, and regional solidarity is the way forward.
We must build systems that are resilient, self-reliant and worthy of our people.
Instead of war, peace.
Instead of despair, hope.
Instead of indifference, compassion.
Instead of sickness, health.

The Polio Legacy Challenge (PLC) is more than a campaign against polio – it’s a commitment to building a healthier future for Afghanistan.
With the support of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, the PLC embodies the Region’s united solidarity for a polio-free Afghanistan.
Today’s side-meeting with the Executive Sponsors reaffirmed our shared resolve to protect every Afghan child from polio – and to build a stronger, more resilient health system for the future.

Polio eradication remains one of @WHO’s highest priorities. The progress made by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative #GPEI over the years reflects the collective efforts of governments, health workers, communities and partners who have stood shoulder to shoulder in this effort. Yet, the Eastern Mediterranean Region still bears the final burden of this disease.
On the eve of #EMRC72, government officials and partners met at the high-level event “United to End Polio” reaffirming their unwavering political and financial commitment to make sure we #MakePolioHistory.
To all our partners: thank you for standing with us.

Having a family history of #BreastCancer can increase your risk - but most women diagnosed don’t have a family history at all. Regular screening saves lives.
It is advised to always do breast self-examination and be aware of your breast health. 🌸

It’s #WorldMentalHealthDay
1 in 6 people in the @WHOEMRO Region live with a mental health condition. This is partially due to the emergencies which affect 9 of the 22 countries.
This compares to 1 in 7 people living with mental health conditions globally.
Mental health is an essential component of health, well-being and sustainable development. However, it remains one of the most neglected areas of public health.
WHO estimates that more than 1 in 5 people exposed to adversity in the last 12 months are likely to suffer from mental health problems, such as mild forms of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. While 1 in 11 people develop severe mental health conditions that compromise their ability to function and survive in emergencies. People with severe conditions are especially vulnerable during and after emergencies and need access to basic needs and clinical care.
Let’s make mental health a priority in every crisis.
