Ahead of #WHA78, Qatar and @WHO held their Second High-Level Strategic Dialogue, reinforcing collaboration through a Letter of Intent for the Country Cooperation Strategy and a Core Voluntary Contribution - highlighting shared priorities in health systems, innovation, and equity.

على هامش مؤتمر القمة العالمية الثانية للتنمية الاجتماعية،وقّعت منظمة الصحة العالمية وقطر الخيرية مذكرة تفاهم تهدف إلى تعزيز التعاون وتوسيع نطاق المبادرات المشتركة في مجال الصحة العامة لدعم المجتمعات عبر بناء القدرات،والاستجابة للطوارئ،وتعزيز نظم الصحة،وغيرها من مجالات التعاون.

On the sidelines of #WSSD2, @WHO and Qatar Charity signed an MoU to strengthen cooperation and expand joint public health initiatives supporting communities through capacity building, emergency response, and health systems strengthening, among others.

Polio eradication remains one of @WHO’s highest priorities. Yet, the Eastern Mediterranean Region still bears the final burden of this disease. It’s #WorldMentalHealthDay 1 in 6 people in the @WHOEMRO Region live with a mental health condition. This is partially due to the emergencies which affect 9 of the 22 countries. This compares to 1 in 7 people living with mental health conditions globally. Mental health is an essential component of health, well-being and sustainable development. However, it remains one of the most neglected areas of public health. WHO estimates that more than 1 in 5 people exposed to adversity in the last 12 months are likely to suffer from mental health problems, such as mild forms of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. While 1 in 11 people develop severe mental health conditions that compromise their ability to function and survive in emergencies. People with severe conditions are especially vulnerable during and after emergencies and need access to basic needs and clinical care. Let’s make mental health a priority in every crisis.
