@urbanfoxwatch One of mine "hasn't been quite right" since I found it smelling strongly of fox urine a few weeks back. 😅

Chester really wanted to attack Rufus, but he doesn't dare cross the fence or he knows The Unit will come for him. So instead he took his anger out on my poor camera! My cameras have suffered so much abuse from Chester over the years 😂

@urbanfoxwatch Based on the limited data we have, they do. Where two dog foxes lived in the same family group on Boar Hill, David Macdonald observed both bringing food to the dominant dog’s cubs &, in Bristol, Stephen Harris & his colleagues found male & female helpers shared equally in duties.

It's a lot more uncommon for males to remain within the family group than it is for females, but it does happen. Not sure if they help with cub rearing the way subordinate vixens do.

Rufus watches The Unit walk by the fence and moments later squats to pee, showing his status as a subordinate male. I suspect he must be Hazel and The Unit's cub from a previous year and he's just never felt the need to go find his own territory and start a family

In addition to panting, the 2025A juvenile Red Fox Vulpes vulpes vixen was employing vasodilation of the blood vessels in her cheeks to cool down today, vibrating the skin in a manner akin to birds fluttering their gular pouches. Her tongue wasn't lolling though @WLOL_2003.

As good as it gets 🦌👌 A perfect example rutting behaviour, as Corky continued his pursuit of Willow today. For almost 4 hours, they made loops around this tree. 🦌🦌 I picked up a brilliant clip, which I'll be posting later 🙊 #RoeDeerDiary #roedeer #Springwatch #Roe #deer

@urbanfoxwatch Superb...thanks! The site's CMS is being upgraded at the moment, which means I can't make any updates at the moment, but I'll sort this out as soon as I can.

A new mangy fox appeared last night and The Unit was not happy and growled. Foxes don't growl in the way dogs do, but will sometimes make a guttural rumbling sound that's basically a growl. It's one of the rarer fox vocalisations to hear so pretty cool to have got it on camera!

Access to clean fresh water is vital for many species during these many weeks of prolonged of dry conditions. My water bath in the wood is used by a multitude of species for bathing/drinking & regularly cleaned & refilled.

Grey squirrels can actually come in black morphs, which are doing well in one US city because they're less likely to become roadkill #Echobox=1740895370" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">newscientist.com/article/246977…

@urbanfoxwatch Great video! I've never manage to capture that call on film/audio, although I've heard it once. Similar phonics to the gekkering. Could I use the video on my site?

@WLOL_2003 thought you'd find this clip interesting! Knew foxes could make these kind of sounds but it's my first time hearing it

About 10,000 years ago, foxes and wildcats made up a notable part of people’s diets in what is now Western Galilee in Israel. #Echobox=1736652022" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">newscientist.com/article/246197…
