@TheQuartering It's long been known that any online forum that does not heavily moderate its political content will inevitably become right-wing. I am not aware of a single counter-example. Leftist politics can only thrive on platforms that heavily censor opposing viewpoints.

Unpopular Opinion: X has actually become a right wing echo chamber. Between US paid shills and foreigners pretending to care about right wing politics, I almost never see left wing opinions anymore.

That’s hilarious… 🤣 The problem people really have is the algorithm. It consistently shows you what you engage with. So if you’re someone who gets rage baited a lot, you’ll see nothing but what you get mad and bitch at. If you like to debate people, you’ll keep getting the kinds of posts where you will debate. If you like to watch kitty videos it’ll show you kitty videos. It’s very rare that you’ll feel the need to comment when it’s actually something you like, so the algorithm doesn’t take those posts into account. The other component to this being that 𝕏 is full of engagement baiting. And most of the time they use divisive posts to elicit emotional responses for clicks.

And yes, I have criticisms of pre-Elon Twitter and obviously Bluesky, too. But things tend to get especially broken when you suppress outbound traffic and break links to the rest of the web, as with Twitter now or mid/late-2010s Facebook.
