Was at a bar with a 6’4 man once. It was crowded and he was using his hand to shield my back while we were dancing together because other men kept bumping into me. This guy close to my height maybe he was 5’7 bumps into his hand instead of my back. Turns around, crazy mad, and starts trying to pick a physical fight with the man I was with.

One time in college I asked a 6’4 man at 6AM to bring me medicine. He biked across the entire town and back to bring it to me. Another time this 5’10 guy kept mentioning to me that he wasn’t 6’ and that I deserved a 6’+ chad. He asked me to cook for him so I did and while I was cooking he said he was going to the gas station but turns out he was lying and visiting his ex.

Parked at Walmart and some teenager in an expensive ass Lexus just parked behind me and ran his grill right into my trailer hitch and didnt even notice (he was on his phone). I get out and said "dude you just hit my truck" and he goes "no i didnt" I just point to my trailer hit firmly lodged in his grill. He then proceeded to freak out about his Lexus 😂 This was an unexpected bump to the quality of my day 😂😂

Traveling out of ND always surprises me when I see the fast food, retail etc. workers being overall noticeably friendlier, more competent and just overall better at the job than what I’m used to. My knee jerk reaction is that something’s wrong back home. But then I remember/realize that’s a clear sign of a difference in a strong/weak economy locally. Strong economies with super low unemployment mean the best, most personable people get pulled into higher-paying jobs. In places with higher unemployment, those same quality workers end up in retail and lower paying service roles. Random thoughts.

And the Trump administration just announced it is shutting down 57 of the 77 Forest Service research stations that tell us how bad it is going to get and what to do about it. We already know how this ends. When Trump moved the Bureau of Land Management out of Washington in his first term, 87 percent of the staff quit rather than relocate. The same thing is happening here. Scientists are not going to uproot their families and abandon university partnerships. They are going to leave. And when they leave, decades of data, research, and institutional knowledge walk out the door with them. The Forest Service oversees 193 million acres. It lost nearly 6,000 employees to DOGE cuts in just the first half of last year. Now it is gutting the research operation that tells land managers what is actually happening to those forests in real time. California alone is losing six research facilities, right before fire season.
