De Zerbi’s Spurs will look very different in build-up. Everything starts with inviting the press. The CBs stay close to the keeper, keep recycling it, almost baiting teams to jump. Once it comes, that’s when the space opens. The striker drops, the midfield starts rotating, and then there are options everywhere centrally. Waiting for the right moment. You’ll see a lot of up, back, through. Third-man runs, quick combinations, just trying to find the free man rather than forcing long balls over the top. If teams stop pressing, then it flips. We'll hit more vertical passes, hit wide players early, or find runners in behind. It’s not about possession for the sake of it, more about manipulating the press and then punishing it.
