@FixingEducation 4, 6, and 10. There needs to be an option for a four day school week with every Friday being a work day.

@EDSecMcMahon @POTUS Correction! You're his helper to redirect public funding to private religious schools. Public funds don't belong to private schools.

I am convinced you could replace every PD day with a teacher work day and it would be ten times more productive.

Dear Parents—your child doesn’t need to be the smartest in the class, the best on the field, or the most talented in the room. But they do need to be teachable. We’ve raised a generation that can Google every answer, but too many are forgetting how to listen, respect, and learn. Being teachable isn’t about grades or intelligence—it’s about humility. It’s about realizing you don’t know everything and being willing to grow when someone tries to help you. As parents, we don’t need to raise perfect kids. We need to raise kids who can take feedback without falling apart. Who can apologize. Who can show respect even when they disagree. Who can be corrected without becoming combative. Because teachability will take them further than talent ever will.

CHALLENGES THEY WANT TEACHERS TO IGNORE •Class Size •Student lacking sleep, physical exercise & proper nutrition •Parents NOT teaching discipline & respect •Thinking schools should be the solution to EVERY challenge students face •Low pay •Awful student behavior

It is so funny to read the responses to my post about kids taking off during the school year for a family vacation. So many telling me there’s nothing wrong with it and the kids aren’t missing anything. So many defending it as no big deal, school is such a waste of time. So many saying it’s not disruptive. If that is the case and your excuse, why in the world do you stand for your schools being so bad that it’s no big deal for your child to miss a week? The schools are that bad yet you send your children nor do anything to demand change? Some of you are so funny.

@educator4ever36 I always hated when parents did this. If you take the time to give them the work, they don’t do it because they are on vacation. If you try to catch them up, they don’t do it because they are trying to learn new stuff. Students lose no matter what.

@jeanne_darc1 @educator4ever36 She failed all three of my classes because she didn’t turn in the work I sent home. Mind you, I sent two extra sets home. Parents literally don’t care.

@educator4ever36 My school is not bad. Yes it is disruptive. No I’m not going to stress about it. There are bigger problems in schools than fighting parents on this.

@jeanne_darc1 @educator4ever36 Same, the parents don’t care some I’m not going to. They only care when their child stays failing….well the send them to school. I can’t grade what I don’t have. I have a student who has already taken two full weeks off of school & we had only been in school for 27 days!

Some people may say that you need first-day vibes every day to be effective, but that's burnout. Real learning and growth come from the daily routines and the consistency that help students feel seen, safe, and supported.

@BenisonMrs What’s just as ridiculous is the amount of grammar, spelling, & reference mistakes in the @Amplify curriculum for 5th grade. It’s WILD! We’re not even in unit two yet and I can count on one hand SEVERAL mistakes I’ve found. 😑

Never forget that teachers don't get to choose the programs they use, the curriculum they follow, or how the students are grouped to receive intervention. We are often asked to "be creative" when the only effective solution is to change the program, or to rearrange groups, or to have additional staff support the children. Many teachers(experienced and new ones) get burned out because the system often asks them to do what is ineffective and sets them and their students up for failure.
