Why hasn't this caught on in the US?
They've been eating self-heating food in Japan (Bento) for several years now. They are popular in train stations and convenience stores and run between $3-$13 USD.
You pull a string on the side of the box. This mixes water with a chemical (usually calcium oxide/quicklime) in a bottom compartment, triggering an exothermic reaction that produces steam and heats the meal in 5–10 minutes.
Popular varieties include beef tongue, curry rice, beef bowl, steak and seafood options.
Who needs a microwave when you have Bento!

@igrochyok@Itssan17 not really, there's plenty of new IPs and a lot of them fail because people are not familar with them, I've seen many posts about new IPs failing because they had no support...
@Wavytiger@Itssan17 The issue with remakes is nobody producing anything original. Everything is “reimagining.” We haven’t had any great art in decades.
Just realized something that honestly made me stop for a second…
$2,000 rent a month.
That’s $24,000 a year.
Stay there 5 years… that’s $120,000.
Gone.
No ownership. No asset. Nothing to show for it.
Just paid to exist somewhere.
That’s actually insane when you really think about it.
Can anyone think of a game where the twist is YOU are the final boss?
Only one that comes to mind for me is Shadow of the Colossus.
(Though the bad ending to Resident Evil 9 totally missed an opportunity there)
@fandompulse Important message to James Gunn, Race swaps are lazy. Is it really that hard to make new original Black characters? Oh, gee look ... here are two now...
James Gunn on why he only race swaps white characters:
"That’s pretty simple. Because 95% of all superheroes have historically been white it makes sense as we start adapting them to film in the modern era that some characters who were originally white become another ethnicity to more accurately reflect our world. In most cases, it would not make sense to take a character originally another ethnicity and make them white because there are already so many white superheroes.”
Should this have disqualified him from running DC?
I'm a woman. I'm accustomed to men lying to me, which is why I remain single.
I'm a journalist who's covered politics professionally since 2008. I'm accustomed to politicians lying to me. That's just what they do.
I don't trust people. Which is why I don't associate with many of them.
But Trump snuck right in under my radar, man. He made me trust him. I BELIEVED him when he said he was different.
Never again.
Never, NEVER again.
@bravesrule384@brianjohn0311@Todd_Spence Idiots? Leno held the number one spot in late-night television for nearly 20 years, with only a few brief interruptions.
Johnny Carson's first question to David Letterman after news broke that NBC chose Jay Leno to take over The Tonight Show 🔥 it was the only time Carson ever swore on the show lol
@tracybeanz I have a male that is very much "leave me alone, I don't want to be petted or looked at or walked past".
But, he's orange. Last time getting an orange cat
The difference between girl cats and boy cats is SO stark - I may never, ever, ever figure out why someone would want to have a girl cat ever again. LoL.
@tracybeanz@BeachFLCheryl Females are very temperamental as well. We inherited a male orange and the female through a fit so bad that the behavior got her kicked out. The whole family was fed up with her! That’s not the only bad experience we’ve had with females.
@BeachFLCheryl Female cats are MUCH less "mooshy." They often keep a lot more to themselves. They are very picky about everything. They love being pet, but don't try to pet them without them literally ASKING you to do it, or they get mad. LoL
Anyone have a magic hack to stop snoring?
My husband does noes strips & mouth tape, we have white noise but still- he wakes me up, I shove ear plugs in, can still hear him & I start thinking about the all the other things I can do with the pillow…
A thousand things should’ve been the end of Trump but failed to end him.
What do you think will be the end of Trump?
My optimistic thought: The 2026 midterms.
A big problem with Project Hail Mary:
the science and engineering is so dumbed-down that it's borderline comical.
Problems get solved almost magically, with no process or iteration.
He meets alien life, shows it a clock, and five minutes later is having conversations. (His laptop magically translated the language, I guess.)
Grace is charming (unbelievably so) but isn't shown as a good scientist. He's shown as a fantastically-lucky scientist.
The Big Bang Theory had a similar problem, pretending to be a show for smart, techy people but mostly just winking at it.
In other words it's pop science when the world desperately needs hard engineering to be celebrated.
Still a good movie, but not nearly the classic it could and should have been.
