Added irony that @Sue_Ryder have a garden at @The_RHS #ChelseaFlowerShow later this month called The Grief Kind Garden, the description of which is absolutely about Spiritual Care.

Presenting the difficult situation @Sue_Ryder to NHS England today. So sad to have 5 Hospices without Spiritual Care specialists in place. Still not sure if @CareQualityComm will take seriously what they have done. I am presuming, sadly that @hospiceuk will also say nothing.

Impact of hospital Chaplains on health care professionals during Covid Bring alongside staff on the clinical frontline’, invaluable & described as providing a ‘valued presence’ particularly in helping them with the moral distress of the situation. journal.equinoxpub.com/HSCC/article/v…

@palliativecare will you be sharing the troubling news we have heard from #sueryder that they have decided to do away with every single patient facing specialist spiritual care provider? We are finding the silence from @hospiceuk deeply troubling. #EOL

@HealthChaplains anyone have any ideas as to how to both support the wonderful hospice movement but challenge those services which lack an understanding of spiritual care?

We are so very aware of the funding crisis in the hospice movement- but cutting spiritual care is like taking the soul out of holistic care. Where now do we recommend patients go to get spiritual care (especially if they are not religious?) #justnotholistic

Received confirmation today that the post I job-share as Spiritual Care Coordinator (Chaplain) for Birmingham Hospice is being made redundant. This is in spite of many members of the community writing in to petition that this core service should be maintained. @MichelePaduano @HealthChaplains

Network members are dismayed by the @Sue_Ryder decision to decimate their spiritual and pastoral care. There are many creative ways to provide quality and inclusive care, which is very much needed in addition to wellbeing support.
WeChaplains@WeChaplains

feeling very much for the @Sue_Ryder spiritual care providers as they are made redundant. Seems like org has lost its soul. 112£ million income but not a penny on spiritual care direct to #EOL patients and families. not sure what else to say @BBCNews @hospiceuk

The programme for the forthcoming Consultation of the European Network of Healthcare Chaplaincy is now available. Thrilled to see some of my CPE colleagues presenting. Looking forward to sharing some research too pastoralezorg.be/cms2/uploads/e… @secraney

Hospices only receive a small chunk of their funding from the state and rely on charitable donations to cover remaining costs. Amidst increasing costs, this funding model is unsustainable. Read our response to #Budget2024 here: hospiceuk.org/latest-from-ho…

@WeChaplains It is incredibly important in #EOLC that support is given, in a wide variety of ways, to help patients see that the life lived has meaning, belonging and legacy. Spiritual care brings this together. It must be part of #hospicecare

I have heard of a couple. some Hospices, sadly, just don't see the importance of specialist spiritual care support. hard to beleive. most still do. it is potentially the begining of the end for hospice provision as distinctive and holistic?
Lynn B@JobbingRev

Is there a wave of this happening nationwide at the moment? Speaking as a hospice chaplain (spiritual care coordinator) who has been given notice that this role I share with a Muslim chaplain is potentially being made redundant. Decision due on 4 March. @HealthChaplains @WeChaplains @RoyLilley @MichelePaduano @hospiceuk
