Why did the SaaS apps settle with subscriptions as the go-to business model? -> Because the payment providers like VISA and MASTERCARD charged a 2-3%fee per transaction to do business. We all know this. x402 bypasses this transaction layer completely. -> The SaaS apps of yester-years were forced to sell subscriptions as a business model because of the TAX of doing business. Now, the tax is gas fees, which is orders of magnitude smaller. 1000x smaller -> If Netflix moved to a pay-per-movie OR pay-per-episode model, they could incentivize film-makers and producers better by having projections of how the movie/TV show is doing. -> currently they must use a derivative metric like clicks/views to derive the value of the movie. What if they could tie it to the holy grail of metrics REVENUE..... The magic of x402 is that its an HTTP code and sits at the network layer. my two cents... cc: @Web3Jalan
