Is this normal? After talking about my book Murder in Moonlit Square at the @KeralaLitFest in Kozhikode, India, I took a speedboat to the book signing booth. One way to dodge a 700,000 strong crowd, I suppose. BTW you can now pre-order the sequel, Death at the Elephant House.

Rare sighting of two books by me together: Blackwatertown, thriller set on the 1950s Irish border; Murder in Moonlit Square, Irish-Indian cosy crime set in Chandni Chowk in Delhi. Published by @bedsqpublishers Spotted by a handsome chap at @Waterstones near UCL London.

Just finished - there’s a ghost in my room - by @SanjoyRoyTWA. It almost makes me believe in ghosts and certainly makes me want to. It’s also a great journey through recent Indian arts, culture, society and creativity. (And my gosh they put away a lot of booze!)

Listen my lovelies, there's been a lot of criticism of people using AI to write books & I don't think that's the way to win hearts and minds. So let me tell you instead, with the best of intentions, what you're missing out on. Here's the thing - writing books is hard. I don't know anyone who was a brilliant writer the first second they began. It's a journey and a learning curve. There are frustrations, challenges, disappointments and failures along the way. But the point is that the journey is still the good bit. Because at the end of it all you have such a sense of pride and achievement that it can be life changing. You don't need a million pound book deal to feel it. The discipline, hard work, time, dedication, passion and intensity all pay out. It's a feeling like nothing else. So for your own sake, stick with the writing. The actual hard work. And yes, I know it's tough. (Really, really.) But nothing quick and easy gives you a real sense of fulfilment. Want to be a writer? Then the painful truth is that you have to write. Good days, bad days, boring days, days where you rip it up and start again. But my God, the days when you hold a book in your hands and think "I created this. From my brain, my soul, my life experience, my sweat and tears." Those days are golden. And you can have that, but only if you put in the hours. Because otherwise, you'll look at that book forever and the truth (that perhaps only you will know) is "Those aren't my words." Just try.

One of the best books I have ever read. A feel-good crime novel that should be on every bookshelf, where bestsellers find a home.
Paul Waters@PaulWaters99

You might think it happened ages ago. But no, today is the day! Thanks to @DHHlitagency and @bedsqpublishers / @noexitpress & @WFHowes - I hope you read, listen to, enjoy & buy (or borrows from the library) Murder in Moonlit Square. There’s nothing else quite like it.

My book Murder in Moonlit Square is no longer just a book. It’s now also a… what? what? A TV show? A movie? On @Netflix? Even better - it’s now a pencil case! Thank you @PenguinIndia & @Bahrisons_books As to why I’m so wrapped up inside - watch the video.

I absolutely loved Murder in Moonlit Square by Paul Waters. It is so refreshing to read a murder mystery that is a little bit different to the vast majority in this genre. abookfiresimagination.blogspot.com/2026/01/murder…

Travelling to the @KeralaLitFest stage to talk about my Irish-Indian cosy crime mystery, Murder in Moonlit Square. They do things differently in Kozhikode / Calicut in Kerala.
