Anti-Muslim riots over horrific murders when the suspect isn't Muslim. Anti-trans bile over a boxer who isn't trans winning a fight. Everything is going really well I see!

This classist bile only fuels support for the far right. It’s offensively inaccurate, too. Many of those who incited Islamophobia and anti-migrant sentiment are highly educated Oxbridge graduates in politics and the media. And given educational attainment is on average lower amongst British Muslims - which has everything to do with high levels of deprivation - it also insults many of those it’s supposedly designed to protect.

Muslims contribute so much to our society. So does the Jewish community. So do Hindus, Sikhs, people of all faiths, and minorities without faith. The people who contribute the very least to society are the people looting shops and throwing bricks. This is the reality of it.

Whilst we welcome the far-right racist thugs who targeted Southport’s Muslim community last week being taken off our streets, it is deeply concerning that the British legal system handed out tougher sentences for @JustStop_Oil activists taking part in a Zoom call.

Lots of people suddenly finding it very easy to separate the actions of a group of violent extremists from the ideology and behaviour of an entire ethnic group.

We all bear not just the responsibility, but also the duty to stand up to hate. To be vocal. To be allies to those who are being unjustly targeted - online and off. To our Black, Brown and minority communities: NEVER forget that you are loved and wanted in London.

Tonight I voted for a ceasefire in Gaza. I also abstained on the question of a humanitarian pause, as it in no way fits the bill of what is required to end the violence.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court just declared the Rwanda policy unlawful!!! That's nearly £150 million spent on bigotry and failure during a cost of living crisis!!

Every person killed in Gaza has a name, a face and a story. I voted for a ceasefire to put a stop to this endless loss of precious life. It is a disgrace that so many MPs ignored the voices of Palestinians imploring them to do the same.

So Tories & (most of) Labour chose not to support #ceasefire, 125-293. We had chance to stand on right side of history - to move to political solution, stop the killing, free the hostages. MPs didn’t take it. So many voices in & outside parliament urging peace - we won’t give up
