Along with restoring Kolkata's iconic tram service, plans have also been made to keep public transport operational throughout the night. New government bus routes are being introduced to strengthen the transport network. In this effort, a new bus route connecting Kolkata with the suburbs was inaugurated today. This new route will operate from Barrackpore Old Court to Esplanade via B.T. Road and C.R. Avenue. We want electric buses to be introduced on the roads, while CNG bus services will also be launched to help control pollution. Ensuring National Security and strengthening our Borders is a top priority for our Government. In our commitment to securing the India-Bangladesh Border, we have expedited the land transfer process to the Border Security Force (BSF) for the construction of essential fencing. As of today, a total of 1,024.75 acres of land spanning across 172.6 kms has been formally handed over for this purpose. The Government of West Bengal has approved major measures to strengthen PM-POSHAN by enhancing nutritional support for students, providing greater support to Cook-cum-Helpers and increasing LPG coverage to all Schools. We have approved an enhancement in the cooking cost from ₹6.78 to ₹10 per child per day for 51.61 lakh pre-primary and primary students. We have also approved 100% LPG coverage in PM-POSHAN Schools by bearing the LPG installation cost at ₹3,000 per unit. Together, these measures involving around ₹414.63 crore will ensure safer kitchens and more nutritious meals for our children. Recognising the invaluable contribution of our nearly 2.24 lakh Cook-cum-Helpers, we have also approved an increase in their monthly honorarium from ₹2,000 to ₹3,000, with an additional financial support of about ₹224 crore. These approvals totalling to ₹639 crores reflect our unwavering commitment to strengthening school education, supporting those who serve our children every day, and ensuring that every child in West Bengal receives nutritious meals in a safe and healthy environment. AIIMS,IIT,IIM all should not be in Siliguri. Other places like Coochbehar,Malda should also get of them. Siliguri should not be Kolkata of Northern part of West Bengal. North Bengal should see equitable development inwith its own area as well.
