@TyTrzecki @bennpeifert On second thoughts there is no B. That's basically it. You can read the impact of QE as mitigating the fall in consumer lending during a crisis. This is intended to compliment traditional rate cutting. The net effect is sometimes called the 'shadow rate'.

@TyTrzecki @bennpeifert A) because the contraction in consumer lending is caused by exogenous factors (confidence, economic uncertainty, etc) as well as monetary policy. In fact the monetary policy will typically be enacted to counteract illiquidity in short term rates and aid the transmission mechanism

This is a very basic and important thing that is misunderstood by macro tourists and doomer hard money types. The Fed's balance sheet, or M2, these are not "money printed into the economy" in any sense. Look at actual credit, money that banks are lending, that's what matters
Benn Eifert 🥷🏴‍☠️@bennpeifert

@E_H_acc It's not though. What matters is credit in the hands of people who can spend money. Here's M2 versus consumer lending in 2020. There's a massive contraction of credit despite massive increase in M2

The biggest thing to come out of the Warwick District Count so far is the sick that came out of one the hungover student candidates. I'll leave you all to guess the party.

Yes you are missing some things: -Children -Supporting family members who cannot support themselves -Living in expensive areas (London does still need nurses after all) - Not having any significant inheritance - Deserving more money
Lee Anderson MP@LeeAndersonMP_

The point here is that ANYONE (not just nurses) earning *MORE* than 30k, & are using foodbanks must have a budgeting problem. I have constituents i.e armed forces, bin men, bar staff, care workers, bus drivers, pensioners etc who can all live on less. Am I missing something ?

1/ Elon Musk becomes the world's first trillionaire. He turns Twitter around completely. Tens of millions of people end up paying hundreds per month for the service. With all this cash he acquires Google and Facebook.

Plus it could invest in small businesses and support markets with carbon neutral objectives in a similar way to how Norway run their SWF. Here's a better written article on the idea: cepr.org/voxeu/blogs-an…

When governments invest, businesses also follow suit as the risks are seen as lower. A UK sovereign wealth fund could target output stability through investments. Unlike the BoE which primarily targets inflation, this would reduce business swing cycles and reduce unemployment.
