@PastorAndyWebb Actually, we don't want permanent DST, we want permanent Standard time. We should fall back, and then not spring forward. But I'll take never changing clocks again as a big win.

BREAKING: The House has passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide, ending the twice-a-year clock changes by a 308-117 vote. Backed by President Trump, the bill now heads to the Senate. If approved and signed into law, Americans would no longer have to change their clocks.

@WojoKen Oh! Interesting. Hasn't been the case for our kids and I haven't heard this from others, but maybe I'm out of the loop? All of ours got their learners and licenses the moment they were eligible. The oldest three have each purchased at least one used car and the fourth is saving.

Yet another friend with a child turning 16 next week. Hasn’t gotten a learner’s permit. Zero interest in a driver’s license. I keep hearing this same story. What’s WRONG with these kids?!?! On my 16th birthday, my mom took me out of school to take my driving test. Same for everyone I knew. Even if you couldn’t afford your own car, you could beg the use of the family station wagon occasionally. Freedom. Independence. Heck, privacy on a date! Are these kids giving all that up for scrolling TikTok and an occasional Uber?

@WojoKen More on point, I’ve seen a similar trend. The freedom that society afforded me as a teen has been largely stripped away. Why do teens need a license? There’s fewer jobs for them, they’re not allowed to drive friends, and state-mandated curfews. Nowhere to go, so why drive?
