@revpmr I can tolerate MN being so low...but it is painful to see THAHB at the very bottom.

Do I need a cowboy action 45-70? Yes. What for? The raptors, of course.

No. Rascal did not meet the man. However, Rascal thought he was tops. One of the few truly good ones, if you will. I told him it might be in poor taste. Rascal said, he loved the man and everyone else could just get over it. 🤷‍♂️ So this week's giveaway is very much a celebration of and an homage to that good and beloved actor, passionate farmer, and kindly nature loving soul, Sam Neill. Rascal knows the SPAS12 is more in line but, alas, we do not have one. So, even though it is more @prattprattpratt than Sam we will be giving away a Marlin SBL 45-70 govt! To Enter: FOLLOW us as well as our long time sponsor @SummRidge , repost or quote post this post (I know y'all have some good gifs ready), and be sure to ALSO REPLY to this post. Good luck all and thank you for participating with us and helping spread the word! In honor of Sam, get outside this weekend and enjoy the beauty that is all around you, waiting for you. Good luck & Godspeed Mr. Neill.

In my opinion, which is the opinion of a lowly, solo TE of the basic Neanderthal sort, the great theological recovery work of this age we live in involves the 3 most critical & basic issues to being human & Christian. Trinitarian theology, anthropology, and political theology all have their Hilkiah's & Josiah's doing the heavy lifting. Let us pray for those men. And may the Lord send us a dozen more faithful brothers for the labor.

@timothyp_787 He clearly did not like the modern school system. "What are they teaching at this schools?"

@nsxanders My ranking changed with every read. And you are correct, that opening line to Voyage of the Dawn Treader is hilarious. And Lewis's description of Eustace's school is a great lead-in to the Abolition of Man.

We both ranked it low, but Prince Caspian has THE best opening line in the entire series. "His name was Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it." Correction: Dawn Treader begins this way, and Joe likes it way more than I do.

My Narnia Rankings: 1. The Last Battle 2. Voyage of Dawn Treader 3. Silver Chair 4. The Lion, witch, wardrobe 5. Horse and His Boy 6. Prince Caspian 7. Magician’s Nephew All 7 books are excellent, 5-star books.

@bendellwerry Naw, Voyage is the book that most heavily features Caspian, it's easy to muck up the titles. I do it all the time.

@Md1819 It's like the Star Wars debate but it matters less IMO. I really like chronological so far. I have small children and this order helps them out tremendously. I respect K-Woj's right to be wrong!

@nsxanders Huge Dawn Treader fan, I used to rate PC lower but I put MN at the bottom of my list. Now do you like chronological or publication order better?

Here’s how Christian social media works... Status: “Poor is one who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” The comments: “This is a little judgmental. I know a guy who isn’t rich but works hard. Are you saying he’s lazy?” “Yeah, and I know a rich guy who is lazy. He inherited all his dad’s money. Not diligent at all.” “Why do you care so much about economics? We should focus on heavenly things.” “Oh, so poor people are lazy?” “A lot of us work hard but are still poor because of taxes. What do you believe about a flat tax?” “I think Christians should desire poverty of spirit.” “A little off-topic, but do you think Die Hard is a Christmas movie? Come on. You know it is.” “The real reason we’re poor is the hidden tax of inflation.” “This sounds a little like class warfare.” “The richest guy I know was born without hands. What do you say to him?” “This would be true if we lived in a theonomic society. That’s why Rushdoony is my homeboy.” Weird, slightly related GIF. “Tell us how you really feel, Michael!” "More of this ragebaiting grift? You TheoBros are all about the clicks." “The Bible also says money is the root of all sin.” Reply from another commenter to the above: “Actually, it says the love of money is the root of all sin.” This becomes a fiery, aggressive subthread that somehow ends up being about pastoral salaries and George Soros. After a while...

Calvin was for weekly communion. The apostolic church partook weekly. We are recovering something older than American presbyterianism. And we need to recover the Lord's Day. It's not the Lord's morning. It's his day. The two practices are not competitors, but good friends.

Interestingly, we are seeing a rise in weekly communion at the same time as a decline in Sabbatarianism among the Reformed in America. Yet the most important thing for the church today to recover regarding worship is Sabbath practice—making the entire Lord’s Day a day of worship and spiritual refreshment. American Presbyterians were unanimously Sabbatarian prior to 1900, and the Dutch Reformed practice was similar. There are benefits to weekly communion, as well as holding a Sunday evening service. However, these practices are not commanded in Scripture, nor were they uniform practices in the American Presbyterian tradition. There are good arguments in favor of both, but they are prudential matters. What is commanded is to keep the Sabbath day holy unto the Lord. Hold commands firmly, but leave room for prudence.

@nsxanders I learned a bunch of questions from Bruce Benedict's songs. I don't know who Eddie Vedder is.

The WSC songs by Holly Dutton are wonderful. I just kind of wish there was a version with a voice like Eddie Vedder's singing the lyrics.
