Philadelphia Church organized a massive religious event titled “Yesu Kreesthu Rakshana Suvartha Mahasabhalu” at the Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Peddakothapally, in Nagarkurnool District, Telangana. Aggrieved villagers initially submitted a complaint to the District Collector, stating that conducting religious or political activities within school premises is in violation of Rule 10(30) of the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Establishment, Recognition, Administration and Control of Schools) Rules, 1993. The District Collector subsequently referred the matter to the District Education Officer for necessary action. However, the events were not stopped. Subsequently, the villagers came to know that Mr. Devasahayam, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, Nagarkurnool, had reportedly granted permission to the pastor to conduct the meetings on the school premises. Guided by the Legal Rights Protection Forum, more than 100 villagers, including leaders from various political parties at the village level, visited the District Collector’s office and submitted a fresh complaint demanding strict action against Mr. Devasahayam. Acting promptly, the District Collector issued instructions to stop the event and assured that appropriate action would be taken against the ZP CEO.
