@SuperNatureGir1 blocked me. Yes, sister, I understand the history. I also understand censorship and its intention. Walk to talk if you want to be taken seriously. Americans succeeded at genocide of many of their indigenous groups like the Pequot, Yana, Karankawa and more. The French and British colonies in what is now Canada did not, except Beothuk and a couple more instances that has as much to do with warring with enemy tribes as it did with settler mechanisms. Colonists thought they were assimilating them and bringing them up from a hunter gatherer society (that had not introduced the wheel and skipped the modernizations of the Bronze Age) to contemporary Western civilization life. It was misguided, inhumane, violent and tragic. But it clearly was not true genocide because the vast majority of our legacy indigenous nations are still here and peppered across every inch of Canada except Palliser’s Triangle, no doubt because there was no life sustaining water there until irrigation, another modern wonder. Cultural genocide is another matter. Females in hunter gatherer societies were not treated well by males well before evolution took us through to the age of exploration and the Industrial Revolution. Any cultural misogyny and exploitation pre dates colonization. So fix your men is fair to say. They are not victims. They are the same aggressors as regular men. If you’re going to point to historical failings, be accurate and fulsome. Be honest.

Elon Musk just mocked Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, and LGBTQ+ people. Let me be clear about what that actually stands for: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, and LGBTQ+ people. A genocide. An ongoing one. One I’ve survived. One that has taken women and girls I have known, loved and reported on. And one of the most powerful men in the world — with hundreds of millions of followers — chose to use his platform to sneer at it. He probably has no idea what’s actually happening in real time. That funding for this crisis was just cut. That Indigenous women and girls are still going missing and being murdered at catastrophic rates. Just… mockery. For the survivors sitting with that post right now — I can only imagine the rage, the heartbreak, the exhaustion. For the families who are still searching, still grieving, still fighting to have their loved ones’ lives treated as mattering — I can only imagine how crushing this feels. This is what victims, families and survivors are up against. Not just the violence. Not just the funding cuts. This is a genocide. And the world’s watching the most powerful man on the planet laugh at it.

I support Mark Carney's decision to accept people into the government I profoundly disagree with, even on key issues that mean a lot to me. Because I believe this is a pivotal time in Canadian history when we must do everything we can to dial down divisions, and focus on our common interests, and shared loyalty to Canada. We cannot succumb to toxic polarization like other countries have. The consequences of that are existential to democracy itself. Right now Canada's survival requires unity. We can fight the good fights another day. And who knows, just maybe if we make an effort to listen and to get to know those we vigorously disagree with, some hearts and minds may change along the way. We could end up with a bigger progressive consensus in the end.

Another remarkable clip from Wiener’s SB 934 hearing. Hearing Wiener imagine being a parent is bizarre, but I want to focus on the committee’s inability to understand the bill they are voting on. Few realize California lawmakers have been inserting “gender” nonsense into state law for decades. It starts in 1998, when “gender” is added to the hate crime code. Then it appears in the Education Code, opening the door to boys in girls’ bathrooms. By 2003, “gender identity” enters the Government Code. In 2005, female-only public accommodations are gone. In 2007, the biological definition of sex is stripped from the Education Code. By 2013, girls’ sports are no longer protected as female-only. In 2017, self-ID comes to driver’s licenses. By 2021, it reaches women’s prisons. I’ve watched many of the hearings & the pattern is always the same. Every bill is “minor.” Just “codifying.” Just “clarifying.” Just “aligning statutes.” Opponents are dismissed as confused or hysterical. “This won’t let boys into girls’ bathrooms. You’re overreacting.” Then the bill passes and that is exactly what it does. Nothing is different with SB 934. All the committee members (even the R’s) seem sold on the idea the SB 934 merely changes the statute of limitations, nothing more. But anyone with a working brain can read the text of SB 934 (it’s not long) and compare it to the existing CA law on conversion therapy. Under existing law, SB 1172, enforcement of conversion therapy is limited to licensing boards and deals only with “sexual orientation.” However, SB 934 explicitly allows a plaintiff to bring a civil action (lawsuit) for “gender identity change efforts” and recover damages. That is a massive expansion of liability. And even if this were “just” a statute of limitations bill, that should raise a different question: why are we continuing to expand a legal regime in a highly controversial and contested space? But never mind all that. The committee is convinced this is a simple, small bill that increases the statute of limitations. We’ve seen this play out for 25 years. And each time, lawmakers say: this changes nothing or very little. And each time, the law expands far beyond what was promised. SB 934 follows the same script.

“Critical law theory” in your profile told me everything I need to know. Does it ever occur to you that you’re just as power hungry as the system you rail against? You must know you’re just useful idiots of post modernism which is just another world view driven by white men? The masses are telling you what truth and reality are. At what point do you have a duty to listen and serve humanity, rather than try to tear it down?

In this post, @Ant1Duval and I assess the IOC's justifications for its new genetic sex testing policy and show that its claims of scientific consensus, consensus among female athletes, and compliance with human rights laws are completely unsubstantiated. verfassungsblog.de/ioc-genetic-se…

Agree esp when you contrast her indulgent rhetoric against @sarkonakj bringing receipts after receipts. I can’t believe no one inside the CBA advised strongly against the communication. If they did and she pushed to do anyway, that’s a bigger internal cultural problem that will ooze out and further erode the integrity of our already compromised justice system.

Tomorrow is the International Day of Pink. A reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and respected, no matter who they are or who they love. We all have a role to play in standing up to bullying, discrimination, and hate. Let’s keep building a Canada where inclusion isn’t just a value, it’s a reality.
