Pune Metro Numbers so far Loan = 8770 plus crore Equity = 2620 plus crore Moratorium on loan = 5 years (it’s over). Annual Payout on loan = 400 crore approx Annual Revenues = 111 crore Operations cost = unclear Daily ridership expected = 6 lakhs Daily ridership actual = 2 lakhs Who’s paying the loan ? The city of Pune, basically me and you. How is it being paid ? By an increase in cess in property taxes. & various other such innovative means and methods. The loan has been borrowed in Euros so it will have to be paid back in Euros. Euro to INR today is 111.34 Euro to INR in 2016 was 70.56 The difference is approximately over 35%. Which simply means we pay more. How much more. Some estimates put the number at an additional 2000 crore more burden on the citizens of Pune, Other than chaotic Traffic jams, Construction dust led pollution and losses to the GDP estimated at 5% per day or annualised. (It’s estimated; Over 3.6 lakh crore lost so far in the past 11 years, since metro construction commenced). Felling of age old tree cover. Increase of FSI to about 9 as per the UDCPR. Urban density = Heat islands. Approx 40 lakh tons of concrete used. & Increased city temperatures by about 3-5 degrees at the minimum. The metro has contributed precious little to the Pune landscape. Its debt burden on the city is over 10,000 crore. Now they want to invest a further 36,000 to 40,000 crores into these Pune metro projects. This with existing annual revenues of 111 crores. Fell more trees. Pour more concrete. Increase more heat. 75% of Pune doesn’t travel more than few kilometres a day. Mostly less than 20. The funding arrangements will remain the same. The taxpayers continue to remain suckers for this white elephant inflicted upon the city. Which means we go into debt for over a lakh crore in debt over the next few decades for this metro. Most of us won’t be using it. Maybe ever. Utility for which has already failed and continues to fail us with each passing day. It’s operational for 19 hours now. Soon, meeting opex costs will also become hard. After all paying 400 crore towards loans with only 100 crores coming into the collections account doesn’t help much. The state government has announced viability gap funding to keep the metro operations alive worth about 800 crore and the centre has also committed 1300 crore, but for how long can subsidies replace actual revenues. So they’ll widen roads to 45 metres. When they do that you see, height restrictions of buildings along the metro corridor go away. The maximum FSI that can be exploited then will be 9.0 We need more of that property tax cess to pay off the metro debt, remember… Do you see what’s going on ? Then we have the usual cycle of plan sanctions, money for FSI, for TDR, money under the tables and over it for the 27 odd clearances that are necessary to build in Pune. Challans the PMC will make money off; all manner of them. We will stack people on top of each other. We will then stack traffic on top of each other with double decker and triple decker flyovers. Heat islands in the making. More loans will be taken in Euros, Dollars, Yen… more trees 🌳 will be felled. More concrete will be poured and more heat the city will generate. “Development” More water will be required. Good for tankers. More garbage will get generated. Good for the garbage mafia. More slums will come to birth in open spaces, tekdis and unclaimed areas. The traffic will implode and collapse upon itself. Pollution will reach Delhi levels. The 10,000 buses still might not show up and the river will become that concretised sewer. Welcome to life in a metro. Punes concrete skyline which once used to be only low rise buildings and trees. 👇🏽

A cautionary tale about @urbancompany_uc and how a publicly listed company handles damage claims. Booked their technician (Sanju Kumar) to install a Luminous inverter at my home in Bangalore. Routine job. Should've been 2 hours. Invoice no: UCIC260004101947 Complaint no: 69f362690db9530026fe28d7 Instead of a standard install, he opened the main switchboard and worked with MAINS LIVE violating the most basic electrical safety rule. Phase-neutral cross-connection caused a ~280V surge through my home wiring. Within minutes: • Geyser circuit dead - Approximation given is around 12,000 to fix • 55" Smart TV motherboard fried, panel and screen damaged - looking at full loss ( Rs 48,000) • Apple TV completely destroyed (₹14,900 replacement) • Home electrical wiring compromised (Assessing currently) The moment Sanju Kumar realized he'd damaged the geyser, he packed up and LEFT mid-job. Inverter still uninstalled. No fix. No apology. No accountability. Had to hire a different electrician the next day to fix the wiring he broke out of my own pocket. Filed formal complaint with UC. Specifically requested a SENIOR technician for independent damage assessment. UC's response? They sent SANJU KUMAR BACK. The same person who caused the damage. To "take photos" of his own work and walk away. He showed up, photographed the damage he caused, left without resolution. No claims process opened. No callback. When we asked UC for a complaint ID, it took multiple follow-ups and a manual download of a tax invoice to extract any documentation. They were not proactive in issuing one almost as if to avoid creating a paper trail. 3 sleepless nights. ₹40,000+ in documented damages. Complete radio silence from UC corporate after that. @urbancompany_uc @abhirajbhal @raghavchandra @varunkhaitan — your company is publicly listed now. Retail and institutional shareholders are watching how customer grievances are handled. Is THIS the customer experience model investors signed up for? 1. Technician violates basic electrical safety 2. Damages multiple appliances and home wiring 3. Walks off mid-job when he realizes his mistake 4. Same technician sent back to "investigate" his own damage 5. Customer chases for documentation that should've been auto-generated 6. Then gets ghosted Listed companies are held to a higher standard of corporate governance, customer protection, and grievance redressal. SEBI compliance and investor disclosures aren't just about quarterly numbers they extend to how the brand treats its customers. This isn't how a publicly listed company should operate. Asking for: 1. Independent senior technician (not Sanju Kumar) to assess damage 2. Compensation for documented damages: ₹90,000+ 3. Formal acknowledgment of complaint 69f362690db9530026fe28d7 4. Process review — no customer should have to extract their own complaint ID 5. Public clarification on UC's damage claims SOP Have all invoices, technician's diagnosis report confirming overvoltage cause, photos, timestamps, and WhatsApp records. please be careful. If a clearly documented case is handled this way, imagine the cases without paper trails. Consumer forum filing prepared if there's no response in 48 hours.

@WriterDeepak उद्घाटन हा प्रकार बंद झाला पाहिजे, कोणी स्वतःच्या खिशातून काही करत नाही आणि ह्याच काही व्हा व्हा करून घ्यायची गरज नाही त्याला टोल पण आहे. उगाच जनतेचा पैसा पाहिजे तसा उडवून लोकांना त्रास देणं बंद करा नाही तर एक दिवस पेटून उठेल जनता.

काल मिसिंग लिंकच्या उद्घाटनापेक्षा मोठी बातमी काय होती? हजारो प्रवाशांचे हाल. लोकसत्ताने अचूक नस पकडली. टाइम्स ॲाफ इंडियाने हुकवली. का? त्याचं उत्तर पाचव्या पानावरच्या बातमीवरच्या जाहिरातीत दडलंय. लोकसत्ताचं आणखी कौतुक म्हणजे त्यांनी बैलाच्या बळीचीही माहिती दिली आणि गॅस दरवाढही.

@advamitachate मुळात लोकांना स्टेट म्हणजे यंत्रणा हा अर्थच कळत नाही. यात खरं तर राहुल गांधींचीही चूक आहे. बहुसंख्य लोकांना कळेल अशी भाषा, असे शब्द त्यांनी वापरायला हवेत. तुम्ही सामान्य मतदारांकडून मतं मागत आहात, पीएचडी धारकांकडून नव्हे.

राहुल गांधी यांच्या... “आम्ही केवळ BJP आणि RSS विरुद्ध नाही, तर भारतीय राज्याविरुद्धही लढत आहोत” या वक्तव्यावरून त्यांच्या विरोधात देशद्रोहाची FIR नोंदवण्याची मागणी आलाहाबाद हायकोर्ट ने फेटाळली. .. या विधानावर काहींनी आक्षेप घेत.. “भारतीय राज्याविरुद्ध” हा शब्दप्रयोग देशविरोधी असल्याचा आरोप केला,तसेच हे विधान सार्वजनिक भावना दुखावणारे असल्याचं म्हटलं त्यामुळे FIR नोंदवण्याची मागणी करण्यात आली.. मात्र राहुल गांधी यांचं म्हणणं असं होतं की, “राज्य” म्हणजे सरकार चालवणारी व्यवस्था (institutions), लोकशाहीतील संस्थांवर दबाव येतोय, यावर टीका करण्यासाठी हे विधान होतं...देशाविरुद्ध नव्हे, तर शिवाय ही सत्ताधाऱ्यांच्या धोरणांविरुद्ध राजकीय भूमिका होती... हे लक्षात घेऊन आधी संभळ न्यायालयाने संबंधित अर्ज फेटाळला... त्या आदेशाला आलाहाबाद हाय कोर्ट मध्ये आव्हान देण्यात आले... मात्र उच्च न्यायालयानेही हस्तक्षेप नाकारत याचिका फेटाळली... त्यामुळे या प्रकरणात कोणतीही FIR नोंदवली जाणार नाही... सरकारविरोधी भूमिका मांडणे किंवा टीका करणे म्हणजे देशाविरोधी कृत्य ठरत नाही, अशी भूमिका यापूर्वीही विविध न्यायालयांनी स्पष्ट केली आहे...आणि त्याच भूमिकेची पुनरावृत्ती या निर्णयातून दिसून येते. .. #rahulgandhi #sedition

@WriterDeepak @MNCDFbombay @RoadsOfMumbai @mumbaimatterz No idea on the SIR status. You should meet your BLO in person for resolving this. Or file an online grievance and then escalate it to state election commissioner if they reject it. Escalation has worked for me in the past.

Important : The Census 2027 exercise has begun from today, May 1, in Maharashtra. The first phase involves self-enumeration by citizens. Between May 1 and May 15, citizens are required to complete their details online by registering at se.census.gov.in and answering a set of 33 questions. Authorities say the process takes around 10 minutes. This will be followed by a verification phase from May 16 onward, during which enumerators will visit households to validate the information submitted online. The final phase will begin in 2027, involving full door-to-door enumeration. The BMC said it has deployed around 25,000 personnel for the exercise, and citizens are expected to participate and provide accurate information when approached.
