@PositivFuturist If you squint hard enough, most of those jobs are mutations of jobs that existed in 1990. Local media personality, model, programmer, journalist, marketer, sysadmin, store owner, programmer. Just "democratized" by the internet. Maybe AI will do the same to other current jobs.

The theory is that new categories of job which can't be predicted yet come about. Imagine it's 1990 and you're trying to predict the next generation of job.. eg/ YouTuber, influencer, mobile app creator, substack writer, SEO specialist, devops engineer, dropshipper, UX designer etc..
Govind@Govindtwtt

Everyone says “AI will take all the jobs.” If that happens… how does this future actually work? No jobs → no income → no spending. So who buys things? Who pays rent? Who keeps the economy moving? What am I missing here?

@Albrochier If it was an effective way to raise tax, more countries than the US and Eritrea would already be doing it. It is just the politics of envy, a desire to punish people who have the gaul to leave.

@Nigel_Farage And yet each and everyone of them would be welcomed by you with open arms. Maybe you should concentrate on the actual threat to this country from Labour/Greens/LibDems then harping on about people who would be your brothers in arms if the colour of thier rosette changes.

Kent County Council has declared an illegal migration emergency in Kent. The local Tories tried to block the vote and walked out. They are running scared of their own record.

my conspiracy theory officially, less than 1% of women wanted this. it passed after 46 minutes of commons debate, without public consultation or evidence sessions, it was tagged onto a crime and policing bill while being the biggest change to abortion law since 1967 this is the same country that spent a decade covering up industrial scale raping gangs because they were afraid of "community relations" women getting pregnant from rapes nobody would prosecute, unable to legally terminate, ending up in courts that force questions nobody in government wants to answer so what do you do. you can't face the gangs issue because that means facing the corruption and the coverups. you can't arrest the girls because that leads back to the gangs again. so you make the abortions legal and stop talking about the rapes
Dr Rahmeh Aladwan@doctor_rahmeh

The UK House of Lords has just legalised abortion up to birth. Women can now end the life of their unborn baby at any stage, for any reason, without legal consequences. A truly dark day for Britain.

@MikeWarland @JohnHundeslit @JHenryCDF Because they're not speaking Welsh. Just like how no one would say (in English) "I'm in Italia" or "I'm in Deutchland", even if they happen to be in Italy or Germany.

@JohnHundeslit "English speakers, however, will of course continue to use the English names" ... in England presumably. Why would they not use the Welsh names in Wales? The same applies in reverse to @JHenryCDF

Useful information for Welsh speakers. English speakers, however, will of course continue to use the English names. Unless Mr Henry calls India 'Bharat', or China 'Zhōngguó'. Are we going to start telling the Spanish off for calling us 'Reino Unido' next?

@PositivFuturist I don't think Netanyahu cares if there's a global energy crisis or not. He's probably out of a job (and possibly in a jail cell) if peace happens. The US is a net energy exporter, so high oil prices aren't the existential threat that they are to Europe or China.

They miss the UK's shadow that they could hide behind, when the UK would be the lone voice against the latest crypto-federalist nonsense. All the while claiming to be "Good Europeans". Any mistake was on the EU's side by not offering Cameron a bone on immigration.
Elisa Mosini 🇪🇺🇮🇹@MosiniElisa

"I think Brexit was a colossal mistake, we need a UK voice in Europe. We really miss you guys." - Stubb, President of Finland I fully agree. I truly hope that in my lifetime I will see this mistake corrected, and the return of our British friends to where they belong. 🇪🇺🇬🇧

You can’t escape the permanent underclass by becoming rich. This is because the real threat of AI is that mass unemployment will lead to communism, the tech bro’s and rich will be hanged or sent to the gulag and the only way to escape permanent underclass status will be to become a senior figure in the Islamic communist party while also being non threatening enough to survive three waves of internal purges.
Liminal Warmth ❤️‍🔥@liminal_warmth

I wish everyone would chill out about the whole “you have X months to escape the permanent underclass” thing. It’s not true. It’s fake. You’re going to be okay. Things might feel stressful for a while but unless everyone actually dies we’ll figure it out.

The opposite is true. NATO is a defensive alliance, not an offensive alliance. When the US invades Venezuela, Iran, and Cuba, NATO isn't suppose to help our offense. Hence, their lack of participation in Iran means nothing. It meant a lot when we were attacked on 9/11, when NATO came to our aid, spending $500 billion and thousands of their soldiers lives to help us. They were and still are willing to help DEFEND us. We don't pay anything for the defense of Europe. Our military spending wouldn't go down if we left NATO, it'd go up. Even if we weren't in an alliance, we'd still defend Europe, just like we did in WW I and WW II. If Russia or China attacked Europe, we'd still come to its aid, even if we weren't in NATO. I'm not sure they need us. If the war in Ukraine has proven anything it's that Russia isn't a military threat. They are too corrupt and poor to mount a serious challenge to Europe. China's threat is likewise fairly remote. The only country that has threatened European territory in recent years is Trump's America. Overwhelmingly, the most important thing that NATO gives America is LEGITIMACY. Otherwise we are just working solely in our own interest that sooner or later everyone in the world will line up against, in much the same way they line up against Putin's Russia.

@Albrochier Past decade? More like the past year. I think what changed was USAID getting shut down, which nuked funding that was going into pet projects that the UK establishment didn't want to directly fund (notice how Just Stop Oil just stopped).

@Albrochier Not immediately after it's over. Give it a few years (after the Shield of the Americas has had time to become a major buyer of military equipment) and Europe will be cut loose.
