@H_Y_per It's useful but it messe with the alpha of other materials, especially decals. It's better to render without it activated. I wish this worked better

The Golf Engineer
The Golf Engineer@engineeringolf·
An unexpected highlight lately: high school & college students reaching out, wondering how to become a golf engineer. How to turn your love of the game into a career: 1. What to study -Mechanical Engineering (CAD & FEA) → club design -Material Science & Chemistry → golf ball development, metallurgist -Manufacturing/Industrial Eng → production -Statistics & Data Analysis → research & testing -Aerospace/Fluid Dynamics → aerodynamics Side note: Don’t forget Agronomy. Turf and course tech is growing with robotics, sensors, and machinery. 2. Your own game -A low (or improving) handicap is a big advantage. Knowledge of the game will be obvious and boost the resume. -Scour the GolfWRX forums. Read MyGolfSpy. Know what trends are happening on Tour. Keep your finger on the equipment industry to separate yourself as a serious candidate. -YouTube can teach you a lot about equipment. My old Club School posts can teach you the fundamentals of club design. 3. Break in -I remember feeling intimidated, like the industry was locked down by a handful of wily vets. That’s mostly a myth. -There are entry-level roles and internships, especially as golf keeps growing. You are needed. Get in there. If you’re a student who loves golf, the path is real. Happy to assist where I can. 🫡

Sedna makes its closest approach at 76 AU in 2076, That gives us ~50 years to figure out how to land a probe on Sedna. Like could you imagine how cool it would be to say we humans landed something on the most distant body in the solar system??

286 examples sold in the UK. Of all of them, 40RA is the one history remembers. November 1993. A Lotus Carlton is stolen from a driveway in the West Midlands. The gang keeps the original plate, 40RA, and spends six weeks ram-raiding shops across the Midlands. £20,000 in cigarettes and alcohol. They hit a store 27 metres from a police station. PC David Oliver eventually told the press: “We simply haven’t been able to get near the thing, and it looks unlikely we ever will.” Their patrol cars topped out at 145km/h. The Carlton did 285.

The reason why you're getting such an extreme reaction from people when it comes to Andrew is because these people can't rely on the same tired narrative that "only untalented people use AI". Just doesn't work when you're talking about him. So they need to rationalize, attack his character in other ways. The reaction is equal to the amount of cognitive dissonance they're currently experiencing.
Grummz@Grummz

Andrew Price, "The Blender Donut Guru", dogpiled by absolutely unhinged and hate filled 3D artists. His crime? Saying that AI can be helpful in iterating on art and should be a useful tool for every 3D artist. Famous and beloved for his Blender Donut tutorial series which attracted millions to leaning Blender and 3D, Andrew Price has now firmly shifted his YouTube channel over to the rise of AI tools in 3D production and art. This has prompted artists to attack his account with cries of "grifter", liberal use of F bombs, and calling him a "thief" and a "terrible human being." Look, if he was doing this for a grift, you don't go advocating for AI tools. Everybody knows how hated that is in art and, therefore, unprofitable for a YouTuber. He's doing it because he's trying to prepare artists for the inevitable change and to survive and adapt. He even says so in his X article. I think Andrew is fully sincere in his goal. I've been warning about AI for many years now, even before ChatGPT, trying to get people prepared. There is not a single one of us that isn't looking at our jobs being replaced by AI, and the only solution is to move up higher on the creation chain until we reach post-scarcity. Crying about it isn't going to stop it at this point. That ship sailed long ago.

@andrewpprice You have to be blind to think that AI generated RX-8 is fine, comparing a bad 3D model to a bad AI model doesn't make it better nor useful

The idea that professional artists will be able to resist AI workflows forever - on someone else's dime - is quite frankly, foolish. Consider how likely you would be to hire a plumber at 10x the price because they refuse to use a snake camera? I still sketch for fun. I still model when I could download, for fun. But for work? I use whatever tool is best for the goals of the project, in the least time. It's always been this way. I get no pleasure from saying this. But refusing the more efficient tool rarely ends well for professionals. My first car model on the left from 2007. And a generated version on the right. For a hero asset, the left approach still wins. For a background asset, the right is perfectly fine. Use what works.

Set out to shrink Big Polyester and make a proper mid weight cotton shirt with a collar built to last. We are off to a great start and will keep pushing. Along the way I wanted to fix a few other things too. Alligator belts that are not 9 inches wide and are actually priced fairly. Cashmere sweaters out of Italy that are built to last, can take a little abuse, and still look right on a golf course. Here is what is coming next with the same lens of quality and fair pricing. Coming soon: A cotton polo for heat. The Arnie. Lightweight, breathable, built the right way. Coming next run in multiple colors. The Washington short. Easy through the leg, not strangling your thighs, not overly long. Clean, functional, and comfortable. Multiple colors next run. Expanded American made belt lineup. Bison, ostrich, and select Italian leathers. Same philosophy, no nonsense, priced right. Alligator cash clip wallets that do not cost $500. In development and sampling: Pants that actually fit. Slightly higher rise, room in the thigh and leg, clean down low. Khakis and corduroys in development. American made. Some different types of knit polos, heavier but airy and breathable. Merino wool vests with two way zippers. Built for layering and real use. American made. Proper American made button downs. Oxfords and more. American made cotton cableknit sweaters. Italian made merino wool sweaters. Garment dyed cotton tees and long sleeves, American made. A real waxed canvas jacket. Lined, durable, and built to age the right way. American made. Let’s keep pushing what’s possible!
