More Neighbours Calgary

This is not what this motion is about. I’m in favour of smart growth that is respectful to community character and input. However, increased density in these communities could place more strain on systems that were built for a different era and are now overdue for assessment and potential upgrades to safely support current and future demands. I will also note that this pause in development is temporary and excludes houses and rowhouses with 8 units or less until the scoping report of the health, safety, and reliability of infrastructure in these communities is complete and residents can be reassured that the infrastructure systems are strong. This is not exclusionary zoning. It is important assessment of critical infrastructure before continuing to densify in these aging neighbourhoods.
