It took 12 days for power to be fully restored after #NBStorm left 130 000+ w/o power. Keep that in mind when preparing home emergency kits.

Today, we awarded the first recipient of the Northern Lights Volunteer Award: 13 year-old Owen Plumb from Okotoks! I hopped on a Zoom call with Owen and his dad to congratulate him for starting a community effort to 3D print 1,000 protective face shields. Congratulations Owen!

Preparedness comes in all shapes & sizes. 🍌 As we’re encouraged to ‘get outside’, remember to; 🚲 Plan your trip & file a trip plan. 🥾 Ensure you’re physically fit, have skills/abilities for outing. 🏔 Take survival gear/essentials, know how to use them. adventuresmart.ca/land/survive-t…

When tectonic plates collide... Wondering about the movement of tectonic plates off the coast of #BritishColumbia? Just to the west of Vancouver Island these plates (moving at the speed that fingernails grow) move apart, slide past one another, and collide earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/pprs-pprp/pubs…

Always try to keep your vehicle's fuel tank at least half full. If you need to evacuate on short notice, you'll know you have enough fuel to leave the area. You'll also help prevent condensation from freezing inside your tank and creating fuel line blockages. #TravelSafe
