I haven’t posted about this food safety event as it’s all assumptions & this type of event can be completely devastating to a brand: 1) CDC / FDA are narrowing it down to a single brand 2) we mostly all share suppliers from QSR to sit down BUT no other brand has been mentioned 🤔 3) We are typically extremely conservative - if there’s the slightest possibility something is potentially not 100% perfect within supply chain, we are flashing the red lights and recalling ingredients asap 🚨. What’s happening in Michigan? I spoke with a close friend of mine today, who is a U-Haul manager at a U-Haul location in Michigan. Over the weekend he told me that most of his customers were individuals who were renting moving vehicles because they were all moving out of Michigan. @owroot The problem with telling the world about your adventures is people will always want to partake in them. Then the quiet pockets disappear. Some things are best left unsaid if you want to protect them.

A few days ago, driving through the western end of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the kids and I pulled off onto a gravel road with a nondescript name like 3874 in the Ottawa National Forest. We took it a couple miles through the woods to a beautiful pristine little lake where we were no one else was. My cell service was gone, there were no sounds from any roads, no horns, no humming wheels, no sounds of any other people, no music, no nothing. Just the little ripples of the water, the birds, and the sound of the wind. We stayed there a while, playing in the water, looking up at the clouds, and just being there in this incredible natural paradise that's on Google Maps but too far away to become ruined. These places are good for the soul, I believe. Just one hour is a kind of medicine. I take my kids on work trips whenever I can because I love them but also because if I had a dad who got to go to cool places I know I would wish he took me too. So I do. I take them. Sometimes it's hard, sometimes it's stressful. By the end of the days on our trips together I am beat and I tell them in frustrated tones, "Go. To. Bed." But there are things we get to do that are so special, things like taking that road to that lake that was just ours for that afternoon. These little adventures, these incredible things that make them so spoiled because most kids don't get to just pop down to a pristine lake in a national forest just because they can. They won't remember these kinds of trips and detours like I do, I know that. They are still too young, and that's okay. But I'm thankful for them, they are magical, they are how life should be.
