The DCSO is aware that Nyoak Nyoak, a registered sex offender recently noted in the media for trespassing and approaching students at schools, was released from jail this morning after serving his 1 day jail sentence. Although this individual currently complies with registration requirements, we want the community to remain informed and aware. If you observe suspicious or concerning behavior, please report it to law enforcement immediately. Community awareness and timely reporting play an important role in helping us keep everyone safe. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, call 911. As always, we encourage parents and guardians to take time to talk with their children about personal safety, being aware of their surroundings, and reporting anything that makes them feel uncomfortable. Our deputies will continue to monitor offenders on the Sex Offender Registry and conduct appropriate compliance checks. @nateobrienn There is a professor at University of RI, Thomas Mather, who used bait stations for deer to apply permethrin on their heads where ticks like to attach because of the thin skin. Dramatically reduced tick populations, unfortunately the DEM said it's illegal to feed the deer. 🙄

A neighbor of mine posted on a local social media page that his mailbox was hit by a van full of what were clearly cleaning ladies. The impact shattered the back window of the van, damaging his mailbox and leaving glass inside the box and all over his sidewalk, yard and driveway. They drove away without leaving a note, and the only way my neighbor knew what had happened was because of his ring cam. He posted a photo asking if anyone knew who they were so he could seek restitution. Almost every comment on his post was from someone shaming *him* for trying to find the people who damaged his property, saying they are likely undocumented immigrants who were poor and scared, calling him privileged and saying he needs to get over his busted mailbox and glass-filled driveway and “think of others.” In case y’all were wondering about the absolute insanity we’re dealing with in deep blue northern Virginia.

How are we supposed to dispose of medication? Putting it in the garbage seems like a bad idea as it could get into the water system etc. My @cvspharmacy won’t accept them. So I have an entire nightstand drawers filled with unused Rx’s. Shouldn’t there just be a dropbox at every pharmacy counter?
