What happened on the streets of Berlin yesterday is almost impossible to put into words. Thousands of Iranians gathered, celebrating, hoping, daring to believe that the beginning of the end of the mullahs’ regime may have arrived. The energy in the streets was unlike anything I have ever experienced. It was an honor to walk side by side with Iranians and to feel this overwhelming force of courage and longing for freedom. As a Jewish woman living in Berlin, and alongside Alon, a German-Israeli, to experience our two peoples literally walking next to each other toward a future that could fundamentally change the Middle East and our countries is beyond words. We are united by pain, but we are also united by an ancient friendship that goes back thousands of years. I bow my head to the courage and resilience of the Iranian people, and I pray and hope that these historic days will finally bring freedom to Iran. I condemn today’s military escalation in the Middle East. The use of force by the United States & Israel against Iran, and the subsequent retaliation by Iran across the region, undermine international peace & security.   All Member States must respect their obligations under international law, including the Charter of the @UN. The Charter clearly prohibits “the threat of the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.”   I call for an immediate cessation of hostilities & de-escalation. Failing to do so risks a wider regional conflict with grave consequences for civilians & regional stability. I strongly encourage all parties to return immediately to the negotiating table.   I reiterate that there is no viable alternative to the peaceful settlement of international disputes, in full accordance with international law, including the UN Charter. The Charter provides the foundation for the maintenance of international peace and security.

I was released from Hamas captivity in January and I am a die hard fan of Maccabi Tel Aviv. I am shocked to my core with this outrageous decision to ban me, my family and my friends from attending an Aston Villa game in the UK. Football is a way of bringing people together irrespective of their faith, colour or religion and this disgusting decision does the exact opposite. Shame on you. I hope you come to your senses and reconsider. I do wonder what exactly has become of British society, this is like putting a big sign on the outside of a stadium saying “No Jews allowed” What has become of the UK where blatant antisemitism has become the norm? What a sad world we are living in.

The family of Bipin Joshi has asked to share the following message: "A week ago, we shared proof of life of our beloved son, Bipin. It was filmed in Hamas tunnels about a month after October 7th, showing our son speaking to the camera, healthy and strong. We held on to that video with faith and hope, believing we would see our beautiful boy smile again and return home. With immense pain, we received today the most devastating news. Our dear son, Bipin, the brother and soul companion of our daughter Pushpa, was murdered in Hamas captivity. The ground has fallen beneath our feet; words cannot describe the void left within us—a void that first opened two years ago and has now deepened forever. Bipin left us with excitement, setting out for a year-long learning experience in Israel. We never imagined that the hug we gave him that day would be the last. Today we can say out loud: Bipin, you are a hero! The grenade you deflected before being brutally abducted saved the lives of your friends. We were so afraid they would discover you were a hero and hurt you; we only prayed you would survive. Before you were taken, you wrote to your cousin, asking him to stay strong and always look to the future. It is hard to imagine the future without you, Bipin. Every flower in the garden we planted for you will remind us of you, every orchard, every field. You are part of Nepal's landscape, and now also part of Israel's. We wish to thank President Trump, the government of the United States, and the governments of Israel and Nepal, as well as all those who helped bring our son back and complete the circle. Bipin, our hearts ache knowing you will never know how hard we fought for you, that the people of Israel and Nepal fought for you, that the IDF soldiers fought for you. We fought with all our strength, believing that one day we would return home together. Soon, you will return home to your eternal rest, and we will continue to fight—this time for sanity, for the strength to wake up each morning, for the future, just as you asked. Rest in peace, our beloved. We love you." May Bipin's memory be a blessing.

Two years. Two years passed since the last moment I saw Avinatan, the love of my life. Two years since the moment terrorists kidnapped us, put me on a motorcycle, and tore me away from Avinatan before the eyes of the entire world. From that moment, our journey in captivity was separated. I was held captive with children, women, and the elderly, while Avinatan was held alone. I was mostly kept inside houses, while Avinatan was only in the tunnels. Hamas released videos and signs of life from me, while there was no information at all about Avinatan. I was held captive by Hamas for 246 days, while Avinatan was held for 738 days. I came back in a heroic rescue operation, and Avinatan returned in a deal. But both of us, against all odds, came home and were reunited! I cannot put into words the range of emotions I felt when I saw him for the first time after so long. Each of us faced death countless times, and yet, after two years apart, we are finally taking our first steps together again in the State of Israel. At last, we can begin our healing together. The recovery will be long; we still haven’t truly processed what has happened here over these past two years. But we won. We won our personal war, and the war of all those who fought alongside us to reach this moment. And now, the time has come to begin our shared journey together. I want to say a huge thank you, first and foremost, to the @IDF soldiers and security forces who have been fighting for so long and risk their lives for us every single day. Thank you to our family, friends, and to the people of Israel, Am Yisrael, who raised their voices when we couldn’t speak. To the people around the world who embraced us, to all the incredible individuals who supported us through the hardest times and never lost hope throughout this long period. To the US government, which opened its doors to me and was always there to listen, especially @SEPeaceMissions Steve Witkoff, @jaredkushner, and the exceptional, President @realDonaldTrump. To all the people who too stood beside our hostages and understood that light must overcome darkness. We will never forget the fallen and the murdered, and we will not stop fighting until every fallen soldier and hostage is brought home for a proper burial in Israel. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This could never have happened without you. We are back ❤️
