@theo I started in the chat mode, it asked me to go to work mode and I said no. Went to work mode anyways. Next think you know im in Codex mode. This was all in the same chat, I really dont understand it.

"ChatGPT Work" -> "ChatGPT" "ChatGPT Codex" -> "Codex" It seems stupid (it is), but I am thankful to see this fixed.

Welp, it happened again. GPT-5.6-Sol (medium) with auto-review on just deleted my postgres database. I have a month old backup and tbh the data is not that relevant but the behaviour is terrifying.

Is there actually a good reason to use ChatGPT Work instead of Codex?

@mwfowlie I use terra and havent once used Sol for programming and havent ran into any of these issues. If I want Sol I use it in the chat mode only because it’s free 😎

Codex has a new bug - it keeps resuming goals that I have suspended for a good reason (quota). It's done this multiple times without asking.

Its the backend skills I believe. When you use codex, it has GitHub skills and such that are updated to ensure up to date knowledge, where you can still code and run GitHub commands in Work mode but it won’t load the GitHub skills and such, it has skills more tailored for business. Its like specialized knowledge AIs, where the chat mode on the other hand doesnt need hardly any skills.

@Starlink I found a way past the large language model, and my order is being cancelled promptly. For rural customers that this is all they have, MAYBE. For a Canadian with great internet, DONT.

@Starlink Im happy now, look how fast that was, and I could get it all in a week installed. It will even be the same price as @Starlink once we do the $10 auto pay bonus and we now get a free tv, an Apple TV box, tv service box, and internet at 3gbps.

Day by day my @Starlink order seems like a terrible idea. I just had to fight with grok trying to get support and then after explaining everything he basically tried waiving me off until I said get me a human before I cancel, it then finally suggested I open a ticket. Like what was I doing in the first place? If I want to talk to grok I’ll go to grok, grok cant help me and didnt even offer to point me in the right direction. After finally clicking the open ticket button, my chat disappears and now it’s just this one sentence terrible summary and I can’t find the grok chat to resend everything. I don’t even have the hardware yet and I can name 3 problems at least that if I knew before hand, I would have never even typed the name of the company into google. Starlink seems anti customer from the app appearance, website, etc. They split my one order, and I don’t even know which one is delayed now. I can’t find any reason that if I waited for them that I would have internet in a month let alone two. Dont send a stupid card to my door competing if you can’t even compete with shipping times and inventory which is the most basic thing a company has to handle. Its not fast internet, its not fast shipping, its not affordable, is it anything they said? There is no reason for backlog at this point while heavily advertising to customers still, are you unaware that customers may purchase stuff thats advertised to them? There was nowhere until after we paid the fee that we would have been aware that the inventory was not available or else we wouldn’t have ordered. I can list a few more reasons why Starlink has lost my trust as a service provider but at some point I have to blame myself for not reading all the other hate/bad reviews out there. I thought maybe they were Elon haters but turns out not all of them. This is actually disgusting to experience it for myself after working many years in IT and customer support.

@elonmusk My quick math: Starlink costs ~$170 for 400mbps Other providers ~$85 for 1500mbps Thats actually makes @Starlink 7.5 times worse than competeing internet companies. Wow, I might cancel after that result.

@elonmusk What about Starlink users? Im overpaying for internet by at least 4-5x in my local area, isnt that worth something?

@petergyang I don’t really understand it either but I think Work mode has skills focused on business related tasks and codex has all the skills for GitHub, accessing local files, etc. if you use work for coding, you can still code but it may not have the context to do it reliably.

Nevermind I see it here - meh feels kinda unnecessary but I understand the normies need some adjustment time.
