To clarify if I argue with you about planes. I don't hate the F-35 nor do I think it's bad, just that the JSF program is inherently flawed, and the flaws of the F-35B, and multirole nature hold back the A, and C compared to pure air superiority 5th gen fighters.

@Papigoose2544 @RickJoe_PLA I don't doubt that the AIM-260 will vastly outperform the AMRAAM, I'm wondering if it'll outperform the PL-16 considering the 260s size limitations

@ZBD04A @RickJoe_PLA Well, they did with Highly Loaded grain conducted last year and the improvement of rocket motors over the last couple of years.

@Alfa_Particle The limitations of the AMRAAM have really dominated the way people think about BVRAAMs for a very long time.

I don't think y'all actually know just how much a dual-pulse architecture extends the standard envelope or NEZ, and improves flexibility against targets compared to a conventional single-pulse. People really don't appreciate enough how complex this gets.

@Alfa_Particle @s_nkvd @snekotron 280km NEZ? What kind of nonsense is that, what kind of grain is packed in that lmao.

I'm very happy the PLA is keeping the airborne IFV alive. It's interesting that they've apparently opted for 40mm CA with only 80rds when it may not be resupplied for an extended period. Pic and info taken from user "..........." On sinodefenceform

@joeblillib4090 Despite my unending hatred of the RARDEN the Scimitar concept was a good one, and it provided something the Argentinians didn't have in the Falklands. Shame it didn't have a better turret.

@scarlettactual batons don't work very well anyway. you can tell someone's never been in a fight if they think they're protected with one of those things

this is terrible advice please do not do this the goal of self defense is to create space between you and your attacker and any blunt object will not help you do that and in many states blunt object are seen as deadly weapons which can legally be met with equal force aka a gun
they/them might be giants ☭@babadookspinoza

FYI: collapsible batons are much cheaper than guns, don’t need licensure and are a lot less of an escalation simply to draw but are scary enough to deter and extend your reach by >1’ if not. I got my Smith & Wesson for $50. Break their legs and run! (Check legality in your area.)

@scarlettactual This only applies if you're American, if you're not and can't carry a gun pepper spray and spacing+retreating is the next best option. If you can't do that (Britain), cardio, and a blunt/bladed object for last resort is all you can do.

@kejimao They are absolutely right to do so, because it’s the Chinese who gave them every reason to act that way. And I am totally supportive of this kind of behavior. Any Chinese commentary on India should not be taken seriously by any Indian

Many years ago, I gave two presentations on how China builds its industrial and technological ecosystem—one for an Indian audience and one for a Vietnamese audience. Although the content was largely the same and went into many details that were rarely mentioned in other settings, the feedback from the Vietnamese and Indian participants was strikingly different. When I discussed the gaps between Vietnam and China, my Vietnamese friends listened very attentively to my analysis of Vietnam’s weaknesses. They even proactively acknowledged Vietnam’s deficiencies and asked me to analyze more specific issues in greater detail. However, when I compared China and India, many Indian friends became quite argumentative. They tried to compete with or challenge the Chinese perspective on almost every point, to the point where I could barely develop my analysis. As a result, they might have won the debate, but missed a valuable opportunity to have a meaningful exchange. So, I came to know which country would be the real winner for "China+1" many years beforehand.

Tommy Robinson asked for money to hire a helicopter for aerial footage so nobody could “lie about the numbers.” He claimed the helicopter had been booked four days earlier. Guess what? No helicopter footage was used. Instead, he used clips from a TikTok livestream filmed by someone who climbed onto the roof of a building. He also claimed celebrities would attend and give speeches. In the end, they had that washed-up actor Tamer Hassan on Zoom. Sharon Osbourne was a no-show, and even Katie Hopkins couldn’t be bothered to turn up, so she appeared on Zoom too. When Starmer blocked foreign far-right agitators from entering the UK, Tommy tweeted that American congressmen were coming and dared him to block them. No American congressmen attended. Also, Valentina Gomez, Don Keith, and the other weirdos who were banned from entering the UK didn’t even speak via Zoom apart from that far-right Polish politician, Dominik Tarczyński.

Apparently one of the CVRT Scorpions from the Blues and Royals Regiment sent to the Falklands shot down an Argentine A-4 Skyhawk. However despite pretty detailed accounts from the crew there seem to be no cases of A-4s lost on June 9th, and the ones around that time were claimed by RAF Pilots, so you be the judge.

@Alfa_Particle and you don't? what makes you think the PL-16 outranges the JATM? even if it did the advantage would be mostly nullified by the Gunslinger, not mentioning the significant maneuverability and EW measures the 260 boasts over the PL-16

The salary you actually need to feel comfortable in the UK in 2026 has more than doubled in the last 15 years. In 2010, £35,000 was a solid graduate salary. You could rent decently, eat out, take a holiday, save a bit. In 2026, the equivalent number — same lifestyle, same level of comfort — is closer to £75,000. That's the difference between 'affording your life' and 'getting by.' £35K used to put you on the comfortable side of that line. £75K is now the entry point. Most people earning £45-£60K in 2026 are quietly running paycheck to paycheck, feeling vaguely confused about why a salary that sounds substantial doesn't actually go very far.
