Robert Thomas is a very good player that any team would love to have. However, you are out in space if you think he’s retuning these packages. He has a full NTC that he would have to waive and thus controls where he goes, severely diminishing the return. Ranger fans saw what little leverage does to trade negotiations with Artemi Panarin. Sure, the players are different in terms of age and contract, but if you asked anyone, Panarin would’ve returned a 1st and a prospect. Instead, he got a recent former first round pick, a 3rd round pick and a 4th. I think fans truly do not understand what NTC’s and NMC’s do to a team’s negotiating power.

I’m pouting and walking away by pointing out facts that you don’t like and history that shows that players with full NTC’s/NMC’s that have waive usually have diminished returns. @23sabres There’s alot that goes into all 3. Jack straight up wanted out. Sam didn’t have term. People are saying Thomas is ready to leave. There’s just so much. I think Player/Prospect/Pick gets it done personally.

Every online trade package for a star player is either The 5th best prospect on the team, a 24 year old who was taken top 30 but sucks, a 1st and a 5th Or 4 A level pieces and a 1st with comments like “That’s still not enough” Always always ends up somewhere in between

@23sabres Robert Thomas isn’t available for an underpay (which this is) or even a “fair” price. You will have to overpay. That’s the end of the conversation. He has 5 years of control. Not 2. No reason to trade him for buffalos trash. Just look at other options. It’s not happening.

If I had to guess the Rob Thomas blueprint IF he’s available: - 1 1st - 1 mid round pick - a teams 2nd or 3rd best prospect - an interesting middle of the lineup roster piece - A b-c level prospect or goalie
