Iran's toll on the Strait of Hormuz won't be called it a toll, which is technically not permitted by the UNCLOS, but will be called a service fee instead

UBS: Iran’s foreign ministry says they have reached a framework with the US but nobody can say that an agreement between the two sides is imminent. It adds that Iran will not collect tolls on the Strait of Hormuz but it's normal that services provided would require a price.

Pakistani mediators received verbal commitments. You really can't even make this shit up. Lost in translation much? Iran said no uranium enrichment in the first announcement, now NYT said US needs nuclear in the agreement. So the reason why there's been no deal announcement is that the two sides are confused about what the other side is agreeing to! This is sooooo funny.

@BaronDestructo @StealthQE4 This ^, any sort of “deal” will likely still leave Iran in control of the strait, and they’ll want to keep charging tolls, which no one can actually pay since Iran is sanctioned, so, strait remains effectively closed.

@JoshYoung I’m happy as an oil bull if Trump surrenders to Iran, means the strait stays closed because even if it’s fully “open”, most won’t pay the toll for their own reasons and/or providing money to a sanctioned country

@MichaelPBento To be fair, this could be an attempt to rehabilitate his image in the face of criticism that he was led into war. Introduce a manufactured division to frame the peace deal as a personal strong-minded win.

this “deal made” news coming from Trump on the Saturday of a 3 day weekend, while at the same time there are constant reports that Bibi and Israel are fuming at it? Seems like they are teeing up Israel to “drag us back in.”
