Exactly this. There's a big difference between someone who is repentant and someone who is ready to settle down now that they are done with that phase of their life. Not acknowledging that is simply ignoring reality, and it's difficult to differentiate that from the outside. People who use their prior sinful lives as proof of their current holy one when they finally make the right choices at a convenient time are rightfully to be looked on with skepticism.

One of the problems of the "reformed hoe" trope is that it conveniently fits the planned trajectory of unreformed hoes. "I'll settle down in my 30s, when men stop buying me drinks, with a decent earner that will treat me better than I deserve."

This produces complicated emotions among people, and I'm not sure I can state my thoughts effectively, but here we go. I, like you, haven't been dating for a while and have been very fortunate in finding my wife and having a wonderful family. In general people like redemption stories, but there's basically no air between this as a redemption story and this as the worlds story of a woman having it all; from the outside people just have to take her (and his) word on it. It's combined with this being the same as the church's message over the last couple of decades of "man up and marry that hoe". This isn't really a reaction against this particular individual, whatever your impressions might be of these two people, but a reaction of the overall message and experience of men trying to follow this path and being burned. I know several men who went down this path, believed their girlfriend saying she was reformed, and just ending up with a wife who wasn't really and ended up being unfaithful. I know others who just had many years of therapy to work through the trauma and bonding issues this lifestyle produced, even though she did seem to clearly repent. For most men, this feels to be a lose lose situation where this side of the church is telling them the exact same thing the world is, and that they are wrong for desiring a wife who had made the right choices and been Godly before marriage. This is hardly different marrying addicts of any kind, or people caught up in a myriad of other sins, it's just a particularly sensitive area for many, and young men are being told they are sinners for wanting to avoid it.

Call me someone who was pleased to hear how Jesus changed Ashley and brought her to Trevor, and who forgave and redeemed her. Call me someone who was annoyed by professing Christians who didn’t forgive her, or who mocked Trevor. At the same time, I think this is a fair take. I used to wonder why every time I brought of a story of radical forgiveness for a formerly promiscuous woman, I heard endless claims of “don’t tell us we have to marry her!” But I haven’t been dating in decades. Young men right now face a bleak landscape where many girls won’t have them, where they struggle to get a job, where society has left them behind, and where they lack the self confidence held by precious generations because said generations weren’t taught to hate themselves for being male. Young men now think that because they struggle to thrive in a more difficult world, they will be forced to settle for a reformed promiscuous woman, since that’s the only girl who’d accept them. It’s an emotional reaction. This is depression and low self esteem talking, but it is also reality. And while I 💯 disagree with the meanness, vile comments, and misogyny some men have, I also believe that our society let them down, and that it’s to everyone’s benefit to build them up again. Understand that behind the nasty comments, there is a hurting who has given up on a fulfilling life, and will chase any false prophet promising better. Recognize that our failure to keep feminism out of public schools left young men feeling left out of society. We all knew this was happening in schools. Why did we let it fester for so long? So no, I don’t defend anyone with nasty comments, bad behavior, or uncontrolled anger. But I also won’t pretend that young men are well. They’re in a much wiser place than their fathers and grandfathers ever were. And we can either alienate them fight with insults, or we can try to find out why they feel the way they do. And far too many have never felt the love and guiding hand of anyone who cared about them well being. Yelling won’t work. I don’t know what will, but perhaps loving and caring will go further.

If you talk to any boy between the ages of 18-22, he’ll likely tell you that he’s frustrated with dating because it seems like every girl is on OnlyFans or sleeping around. Then he opens a social media app and the first thing he sees is some guy happy because he waited while his wife slept around but it’s okay because she found Jesus. So the average young boy is reading it frustrated because it sounds like this guy is a cuck and if he follows this path, he too will end up with a reformed hoe. Marriage needs a better marketing campaign. Many people have never seen a powerful marriage in real life. Everyone dreams of love and romance and feels like it’s no longer achievable in this age. Additionally, good girls also feel Prodigal son’d when they see posts like these because when a girl does bad things and “sees the light” she still keeps all the OF money and gets speaking engagements, fame, and a guy simping over her anyway. Not saying people can’t change, but these posts don’t inspire the ones who need inspiration. They just end up pissing off the guys and girls trying to date.

@RAZ0RFIST I had to re-read this several times before realizing this wasn't a movie where David Spade was playing her drug dealer fiancé.

I know everyone's giving Talarico a hard time over the meat thing, but if I had to eat Texas BBQ regularly, I'd also probably turn vegetarian and gay.

@marcorandazza The jury concerns me. Small town, and they do not look amused. Ive lived in a lot of small towns, and many tend to believe police and side w them even more than normal juries, and that might not be good. We'll see and I hope he wins it.

I have been negative about the Afroman case, but looking at the MTD order, I'm less certain. I understand making a video crapping on cops that raided your house. But reading this order I could imagine at least some of this claim might be legit. Mind you, I've moved from 100% certainty the claims are bullshit to 75% certainty. But it is a significant move. assets.aclu.org/live/uploads/2…

Why do they keep doing this? “Let’s make a really good movie that all the fans of the character will like, except…” “Yeah? Except?” “…let’s cast the supporting female lead terribly. Like, hilariously badly, so it kind of ruins the whole movie.” “LOL yeah okay.”

@Mayhem4Markets The Jones act has been a disaster do years, and should be revoked permanently. The US simply doesn't have enough ships to meet our demand, nor enough shipbuilding capacity to catch up anytime soon even if it economically made sense.

@GuilhermeRios @HoegLaw I was preferring human writing, but I've gotten a distaste for the quantity of obvious AI writing of "it's not this, it's that" on X so it tainted my view enough that likely resulted in me just correctly guessing.

@Zaphoid @HoegLaw Question: were you trying to correctly guess which was which, or have you really preferred the human writing every time?
