Yup. We met during a holiday abroad, didn’t live in the same country but stayed in touch. She died from cancer 3 years after we met 🥲

Anyone can do it. You don't want to dedicate the hours? That's fine, just play what you want, but it's not that hard

Because the entire design philosophy is based around overcoming a seemingly impossible challenge, it's rooted in the design, the narrative, everything. Every player starts equally, same difficulty, enemies, options, etc. Everyone overcomes the challenges in different ways despite their different skill levels and that's part of the magic. We were all chosen undead that took on the journey, some went Hollow and some defeated Gwyn. Games are designed with a purpose and intent, this idea of "it's just an option it doesn't hurt anything" is false because it goes against the entire purpose of the game. "A game made for everyone is a game made for no one." Not to mention it complicates things like Invasions, item and enemy placement, etc. All of these things are deliberately designed to deliver a certain experience, that goes out the window once you give a difficulty slider. If you don't like Souls games that's fine, if you don't like hard games that's fine, but if that's the case you have an infinite number of other games you can play. People don't like it when outsiders come into a space and demand the game be changed and catered to them when they never liked the core design in the first place.
