I am working on a POC (Proof of concept) for Custom assets created/issued on Zcash using Orchard Zcash Shielded Assets (ZIP227) This allows for any Zcash user to create their own custom shielded asset using the 2022 Orchard shielded pool, built on Halo 2 like a "memecoin"

@robustus > in theory an adversary AI could model the wallet's behavior and still not have a clean read on the read on what' I don’t think so. I think the adversary AI will be able to read through that defense very reliably. And, I think the users will refuse to use this UX. 😭

Thanks for this perspective much appreciated. I agree that asset tokenization is a clear long-term trend, and that self-custodial systems only make sense with strong privacy guarantees. Viewing ZSAs as a general-purpose primitive, not just private stablecoins, is an important distinction. We also share the view that scalability and security come first: progress on Crosslink, Tachyon, and NSM is foundational. With the right sequencing, ZSAs can significantly extend Zcash’s functionality while supporting sustainable incentives over the long term.

There are sufficient signs indicating that the next decade will see active tokenization of stocks and other financial assets. And since this is self-custodial storage without brokers, it is obvious that a private storage method is needed. ZSA is not just stablecoins or whatever else, it is a whole range of potentially in-demand instruments. The only thing that needs to be done is to make sure that #Zcash significantly increases throughput and security. So the first things that need to happen are Crosslink, Tachyon, and NSM. And when it is scalable enough to accept the token universe, ZSA will be a great extension of Zcash's functionality, which, thanks to NSM and increased fees for tokens, will also ensure long-term stability of incentives.

Hey @zooko 🦓 We’re trying to run a simple, good-faith community exercise ahead of NU7: clearly surface the strongest arguments for and against ZIP-227 (Shielded Assets), so the trade-offs are well understood before activation. Could you share your view on the main benefits of ZSAs, and the most important risks or downsides the community should be honest about? After that, it’d be great if you could tag someone you respect who holds a different or more skeptical view, so they can explain their reasoning too. Goal is clarity, not consensus.
