@rubyslippahs @SeanDreyer Listen if they just made @PEEPSANDCOMPANY with sugar free alternatives it would accomplish this exact effect.
English

@michaeldmccann Yep. ML much better at finding patterns than our chart reviews trying to find trends in the darkness.

@ZipkinMD I’m surprised that machine learning upgrades are not implemented in EHRs to do this, especially with all the excitement around AI. It would be easily implemented in EHRs with discrete data sources of lab values.

@MaddieMierMD We often times talk about autonomy and support as if they're mutually exclusive. They're not. These are two independent variables.

This, of course, raises an actual serious #MedEd question about what is the appropriate amount of direct vs indirect supervision..? How do we know what is too much vs not enough autonomy?
Thoughts?
Sidenote, it’s now been a week of quarantine & I’m really missing work 🙃

So the culture at my program is that we as attendings are ✨very present✨ on the floor. Like wayyy more than the faculty ever were in my residency.. and I NEVER felt like I was under-supervised or that it was unsafe.. but like, were we basically just 12 yr olds left home alone?!

@bridgetmcgann @MissM_19 @DoctorPICU @WendyHassonMD Lastly, if you want to disagree with the American Academy of Pediatrics or hand waive all pediatricians as only "anecdotal" I recommend doing the lit review before claiming there's no proof. ALTE/BRUE, choking HIE, etc. The proof is not subtle.
English

@bridgetmcgann @MissM_19 @DoctorPICU @WendyHassonMD 1. lol way off + irrelevant
2. everyone thinks they're doing it right. there's no set guidelines. moving goalposts + fabricated rules
3. claiming "first" like a SoMe post is not science. it's not about norms. no IRB will approve a peds study where anoxic injury is a known outcome

I bet every #tweetiatrician and #PedsICU doc can immediately spot the item that gave me severe anxiety at this 4 year old birthday party.

English

@MelodyButler @WendyHassonMD No! Then all the dentists get upset! Something something "retentive" something something "makes carries" (ok I may ignore this one)
English

@EmpiricGame This is why everyone in healthcare needs a Med/Peds buddy. 🤣
English

@RodGerardo Ladies and gentleman, I give you the punch line to the joke "what's the difference between a surgeon and a diagnostician?!"
English

@davidshoremd Med/Peds chief ftw! All the benefit, none of the drawbacks vs categoricals. How interesting it would be if all trainee chiefs had the opportunity to both learn and practice critical clinical leadership skills.
English

@medburnbook I'm going to interpret that as you successfully putting in a midline one-handed.
I'm an attending so you're not allowed to correct me.
English

@medburnbook Ok ok now take your list and identify if you've done 2 or more of those items at the same time
English

@leightonmed Not sure why Twitter alerted me to this specific tweet but my only response is: Don't hate the player hate the game!
English

@missnemmanuel I don't know who you are or why you showed up on my feed, but we share a connection that runs deep.
English

@jbcarmody Yes. This. There is of course a goal inherent to any school that they graduate students with high objective metrics like grades. But the larger goal here is producing great doctors, which exhibits a Flynn effect to EQ as much as IQ in the modern era.
English

MCAT scores -do- predict academic success in the first two years of medical school - which is an important goal. Just maybe not -the- most important goal when selecting future physicians.
