@LeemoXD @Gr33nHatt3R Problem is that people are lazy as fuck and can’t even spend 10 minutes doing some research on something as important as this

@Gr33nHatt3R My one wish, however, would be that the 1-2 day unstaking period be communicated better so people stop thinking that wallet teams are lazy and havent added it lmao It's not even implemented to the protocol yet :D Doesn't help when official affiliated accounts imply its live.

@kukabi_ Great work! Are you going to move it to Mainnet as well? There seems to be a lot of activity on Paseo and Testnet but not much on Polkadot asset hub and I was wondering if there is any reason for that

Helikon got voted out of IBP the day DeServe launched, for reducing costs and, quote, "prioritizing centralization". One week later: 50M+ requests/24h for a single chain, 15 locations, 7 providers, lowest latency among all major providers, with a roadmap to onboard Polkadot-native operators, and go on-chain. And today, on day 10, DeServe launches Coretime archive RPC services, and public analytics dashboard. Website and documentation are updated with the new services. Thanks for the support! 🚀 Public dashboard: monitoring.deserve.network/public-dashboa… Website: deserve.network Docs: docs.deserve.network

🌐 Just launched a global RPC network for Polkadot Asset Hub. 14 locations, lower latency than all major providers, at a fraction of the cost. First step of the DeServe network: decentralized general-purpose infrastructure provision, coming to #Polkadot. Benchmarks, endpoints, and full details: forum.polkadot.network/t/launched-a-g… Developers, give it a try and let us know.

@sorpaas Some days I was wondering why you were spending your days criticizing DOT rather than try to enrich your life. Then I found the answer:”Wei Tang, who is involved deeply in Ethereum core dev.” You are just a little man

Some of you said we should give it some time to prove itself. Today, a month has already passed for the #Polkadot Hub smart contract launch. The data? 65 smart contracts, 288 contract transactions, IN TOTAL. This is even after Parity tried to pay money to devs to deploy contracts. I do not know what the future holds for Polkadot, but its smart contract launch has definitely failed.

Four days into the "highly anticipated" #Polkadot Hub smart contract launch. In total -- 15 contracts deployed, 37 smart contract transactions. That's IN TOTAL. I risked my job telling their leadership why the whole thing was a strategic mistake. They never listened. The de-funding of @ink_lang is the final nail in the coffin for a once great chain.

We should make full use of the partnership already established with Hong Kong’s OASES and amplify it as much as possible. @Web3foundation @PolkaPort_East Because this March, Hong Kong will issue its first stablecoin licenses — and later this year introduce legislation for digital asset dealers and custodians. This is not just another “Hong Kong embraces crypto” headline. It’s one of the first real-world experiments in integrating blockchain into the financial regulatory layer: stablecoins, tokenized bonds, 24/7 settlement, and compliant infrastructure. Hong Kong will soon need: • Regulated stablecoin settlement rails • RWA registration infrastructure • Custody verification layers • Cross-border asset routing @Polkadot can serve as the execution layer for exactly these kinds of systems — enabling regulatory control while preserving on-chain verifiability. This kind of structural separation is difficult to achieve on @ethereum. And from a global perspective: • The U.S. remains uncertain on regulation • The EU is cautious under MiCA • Singapore is tightening • Hong Kong is actively experimenting with frameworks At the same time, @Polkadot is moving from an infrastructure narrative toward real adoption. This is a window of opportunity. Participation would not only validate Polkadot’s architecture at the institutional level, but could also bring meaningful liquidity and ecosystem momentum. theblock.co/post/391172/ho…

Unpopular opinion: Transparency kills blockchains Managing the Polkadot treasury spending openly has attracted more criticism than ROI. The Proof of Personhood will demonstrate that the number of real users will be disappointing. (although both initiatives are noble)

More than 17,000 smart contracts have already been deployed on Polkadot Hub. Over 2,000 of these were deployed through EVM, while 7,000 were deployed through PVM. Smart Contracts officially went live on 27 January, marking an important milestone for the network. We’ve officially entered a new phase for builders. Here is a beginner guide to @Polkadot smart contracts [1/10]

@Krayt78 I don't think that people don't care about governance. I believe that many referenda(s) are too technical for the average Joe and some are meaningless (small grants) for people to bother. Imo only the major ones should be put out to the community.

I understand that it feels like OpenGov is centralized when one entity like W3F sways referenda - or even out right decides if it passes or not considering the low amount of delegation to vote. But let's clarify: it's still decentralized at its core. W3F doesn't hold a majority of tokens (total supply ~1.66B). Tracked wallets show they vote with around 140M DOT ... that's <10%. The real issue is the abysmal voter turnout. When most holders sit out, any big voter dominates. That's not a W3F problem, it's ours. If we want to fix that we need to fix the root cause of the issue - people dont care about token governance.
Wei Tang@sorpaas

The current situation in #Polkadot OpenGov means that it's no longer a decentralized network. One party holds too much voting stake and essentially controls the direction of all referendums. In this case, on-chain upgrade is a curse. If, like in #Ethereum, changes go through hard forks, then it'll still be decentralized, because developers, validators, exchanges, etc, still need to be consulted and a rough consensus must form. No such thing is needed in #Polkadot. Just a decision by a single party, and they overrule the rest of the community, "thanks to" on-chain upgrade. It downgrades itself from decentralized Web3 to centralized Web2. Remember the original Web3 manifesto by Gavin Wood? "Less trust, more truth."

These last two days were pretty emotional for me. I was standing in the booth for one last time sure colleagues that I came to respect a lot. Visited the booth of a major global exchange where a listing manager proudly told me that „the bear market is not really an issue. Retail buys everything we push to them!“ Heard of a fresh protocol that sold 500m USD of their tokens pre product launch. Saw some of the most scammy creatures of the industry assembled to celebrate their continued success. And couldn’t shake the feeling that it’s only the grifters that are winning. I pitied myself for trying to make Web3 real and having little to show for it. Instead of writing useful applications I participated in a 2 year experiment of open governance that in the end spent 250m USD with barely any results. I contributed to stopping one major grift while others kept passing for way too long. Then I reminded myself that many good people are in a position to pity themselves right now. And it doesn’t matter that much. As long as there are gamblers willing to give away their money, there are grifters willing to pick it up. The Polkadot booth felt weird this time. People came to appreciate the weird pink design. Many many people asked „So what is Polkadot?“. A few came by to say they bought DOT many many years ago and almost forgot about it („don’t check your wallet!“) When people came and tried to sell whatever useless stuff they wanted to sell I was often super close to telling them „sorry but no one is interested in yet another DEX aggregator/paying you for integrating your DeFi primitives/stablecoin integration/no-KYC off-ramp“. But I didn’t want my anger to get the better of me. I took their contact and wished them well. I can ignore them on Telegram later. I looked over to the face of Phil and Dom Kwok. For 2 whole days their faces were on 3 big screens of their hackathon, visible from every angle of the whole hall (last year they had a separate hall. I heard someone say the prize pool was announced to be ONE MILLION DOLLARS but then materialized to be 5k is USD, and I couldn’t see the name of a single sponsor) Charles Hoskinson appeared in a McDonalds outfit. I think Midnight Network is the perfect coverup for Cardano‘s choice of using UTXO. Just shove the problem to the next layer. But I was glad to have a chat with Vasiliki. I think she is the most beautiful woman I met in Web3. „What do you think about 2026 being a bear market?“ two people asked me. What? Sorry but I’ve been in a bear market for 5 years. I don’t get your question. Just learn to endure the neverending pain of the consequences your past choices. I met an ex Parity employee who was actually interested in what’s new with Polkadot. I met Mo, a retail trader who visited the conference to determine his next entries and I had the most honest conversation about all the good and bad of Polkadot with him to give him a chance to make the right determination. I met the representative of a major bank to discuss how Polkadot SDK could be used as a stablecoin sandbox. Every time when I talk with a real professional from a big institution I put all my excitement for Polkadot and what it can do in front of them until they start to get it too. They take a mental note to get back to it. We exchange names. Will anything ever come of it? And all my colleagues are sad. This is our last booth. We chat and laugh and are sad together. We pass the time as professionally as possible. I hate free giveaway merch. It perverts the incentives. The bounty needs KPIs. So we come up with this bullshit metric of „activations“. But the real reason is that no one has any plan for this booths. No one is saying „our target this time is to onboard 100 new developers“ or „get the contact of 10 banks“ or „have 1000 conversations with X framing“. So instead we give away 300 Tshirts and take 300 email addresses.

@polkaworld_org @Polkadot Polkadot could also be seen without these. Would be nice to have Gav step up more as a thought leader. Not saying he needs to put on a McDonalds hat as well, but Charles Hoskinson seems to keep Cardano on the map despite lacking a unicorn product or superior tech.

Essentially, this is Wall Street capital backing its own L1 to bring more off-chain assets on-chain. So it’s not really about the tech — at its core, it’s a business deal. If they were genuinely doing deep technical research, they would’ve picked Polkadot a long time ago. There’s no “good” or “bad” here, no need to dunk on it or hype it up. Pulling off a great business deal is a skill. Pushing technology to the cutting edge is also a skill. We should each focus on leveling up where we’re currently weak.

After getting to know the LayerZero team and what they’ve been building over the past year, I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to join an advisory board for the first time in a long time. Finance is moving on-chain, and I believe LayerZero will be one of the core innovation platforms supporting this multi-decade shift.
