Companies arresting users for complaining is never going to be right, it doesn’t matter if the complain is right or wrong. However it’s a different case if someone was arrested due to a coordinated social media attack. I’ve been searching for the tweet that caused the arrest but got nothing. Companies are managed by human beings too, they have a team and staff that depends on them, and when you attack someone’s source of livelyhood without a justification, you shouldn’t complain if they report you to the law. There was a court case today that @DailyPostNGR covered, it mentioned that two people where arrested and the report was that, a brainjotter account with 1.4M followers (parody) specifically made a post a while back, promising 500k to people if they can comment “Moniepoint scandal” Several posts went out like this. The account has now been deactivated too. This account owner was arrested and the person behind the account explained that they he got paid by someone else ( the second person that was arrested ) which led to the second arrest. The real sponsor is yet to be named but it is what it is. When people make posts that can cause panic among users especially when it has to do with money, they don’t see how the ripple effect happens, these posts get into WhatsApp groups, and and people broadcast it without knowing and before you know it, everyone is withdrawing their money from a bank without even knowing why. Companies need to always address issues like these as early as possible, I get the whole going to court thing but sometimes, it’s good to quickly explain the real cause of issues to your users also to avoid misinformation spreading faster than the actual facts. Goodluck to everyone involved.
