@redlightomar @slowlyisee I’m wondering if he’s thinking about Edvin for his new Netflix show that was just greenlit. It’s based on a book about Alexander the Great’s younger years.

@slowlyisee i know i discussed it in the past but i ALWAYS did it with the premise that there are zero chances of either omar or edvin joining the cast. if i’m not mistaken, the director himself said he doesn’t want well-known and non-canada based actors so

@LLLazyLizard @gimmieghostie @mickeysmyheart They both just followed EO. Netflix also ordered another show, “Alexander,” from Jacob 3 wks ago, so it’s not necessarily HR-related. It’s a project based on a book he loves & optioned years ago. He may be ready to cast leads early & wants Edvin for Alexander. Who knows?

@gimmieghostie @mickeysmyheart If I’m not completely wrong, Jacob has been following Edvin for a long while now, and Jacob said in some interview that they had Young royals as an inspiration for the chemistry or something like that. So unfortunately(!) I don’t think this means anything ☹️ hope I’m wrong tho!

I think we're entering very dangerous territory here, with editors trying to second guess the use of AI and rejecting pieces on that basis, without authors ever knowing...

It should be said—loudly, by many people—that the indiscriminate destruction of civilian infrastructure is a war crime. There is no way around this.

@thedimitri He's handsome but also an obvious closet case looking for a beard. She's some kind of globohomo-approved influencer who is always flaunting her bloody tampons and pads and has terrible hygiene and body odor (weird for an Asian). In other words, they're a perfect match.

As much as I hate Trump's idea of sending ICE to fill in for TSA, as someone in the travel industry can't think of another move he can make that would so turn Americans against GOP before the 2026 elections....

I’m less concerned by the author (used loosely) that used AI to write their book and more concerned by why a big five publisher needed readers to tell them it was AI

@secondrealm @DarrylTheAuthor @roo_richardson She admitted it’s AI. She just claims she gave it to a friend to “edit” and then turned it into the publisher without reviewing it. “Steal man it”? I don’t know what that means.

@chipoodler @DarrylTheAuthor @roo_richardson okay; afaik, it's just an accusation at this point. not proof AI was used. so not sure the contract is in breach. and i asked you to steal man it for me. but if you don't know that's fine.

re: the AI book being pulled at Hachette - though I agree we shouldn’t let AI ‘books’ be published, how are they making sure to be absolutely 100% certain it was indeed written with AI? Because if there isn’t a definitive system in place this could become very messy for authors

@secondrealm @DarrylTheAuthor @roo_richardson It is standard in publishing contracts to require the author to attest to the writing being their own. The news articles about Hachette pulling her book refer to this. And I hope you’re right about AI. But if you don’t even understand how we know climate change is human-driven…

1) i didn't know the contract was publicly available. i'd like to read it. can you link to it for me. 2) history tells us that with every technological innovation more jobs (esp. ones we could not conceive of before) are actually created. what about AI is different in your opinion? 3) long before industrialization, the Earth went through ice ages, warming periods, and massive shifts driven by natural forces. so the idea that climate change is a human cause is not necessarily valid. steal man climate change for me plz.

@secondrealm @DarrylTheAuthor @roo_richardson I think some people will continue to write. But there will be fewer opportunities. Like the way the internet shrunk journalism. AI is going to displace too many fields all at once for us to adapt well. Especially if we all just blindly go along, training our own replacements

1) i'm not sure which contract you're referring to. 2a) it's also no clear that job directly b/c of AI capability is occurring. 2b) global shipping is far more destructive than AI. by multiple orders of magnitude. 3) that last one is a hypothetical. but i'll entertain it with a real world example everyone having a camera and video in their pocket didn't squeeze out photographers and film makers.

@secondrealm @DarrylTheAuthor @roo_richardson 1) it’s a breach of contract 2) people like me are worried about job loss & environmental destruction from AI. Its use should be disclosed so we can avoid it, like a toxic ingredient 3) if it gets better, it will produce reheated adequacy while squeezing out real authors

@AustinWyckes She now admits AI was used. She says she let someone “edit” it and that person used AI. But the problems are extensive and include things like a character turning into a dog & then that transformation not being mentioned again. If she didn’t read her “edit,” she’s responsible

@ANIOBINNA @PopCrave It is a breach of contract, not a crime. She could be sued for it but not sent to jail. It’s also just plainly unethical to present something as the product of your own mind when it isn’t.

She isn’t being flagged for using a few em-dashes. She’s been flagged for seven or eight sentences per page that read “the room hummed with a heavy sharpness; his voice was too low, too sharp, like a song, a stone, a grave.”

Caught this thread roasting an AI-generated book—repetitive ‘sharp’ prose everywhere and the dog transformation that just vanishes? Classic LLM memory glitch. My take: this isn’t killing creativity, it’s forcing a hybrid revolution. Writers become ‘AI editors’ who prompt brilliantly then fix coherence, publishers will mandate disclosure, and readers will pay extra for verified human soul. Trend incoming: AI drafts the speed, humans deliver the magic. Bad slop gets exposed fast—finally.
