Me when a company is in a **perfect** position to benefit from SEO keyword/audience/business/best-in-class/leader-in-space/opportunity-wise but getting it to happen goes entirely against their current culture.

FYI, cold email outreach isn't dead. I actually think it's more effective than ever. I got this email a year ago - teach tape on how to get someone's attention the right way. I hired the kid on the spot, he writes a lot of my copy and blog content.

Say what you want about scammers, but they have a tough life. Take this person, for example: their competition is so bad they can't even create clean email addresses anymore, they have to number them 90s style. claim_office12@, who's gonna believe that?!

@jasonfried Literally tens of thousands per month to acquire traffic for their own brand search. Sure, Basecamp will pay cheaper CPC than their competitors, but it’s still major investment. Data attached for worldwide brand search.

When Google puts 4 paid ads ahead of the first organic result for your own brand name, you’re forced to pay up if you want to be found. It’s a shakedown. It’s ransom. But at least we can have fun with it. Search for Basecamp and you may see this attached ad.

Another example of brand bidding that’s crippling brands 👀 Paying for your own brand traffic is a tough pill to swallow, but sometimes you have no choice.
